Personally, for an hour of entertaining easy watching TV I enjoyed it.
Had a few laughs.
Not the best "special" but wasn't awful.

Some people will never be happy :-)

Genuine question to those who don’t enjoy TGT...

Why do you watch it?
Do you want to like it but find it disappointing?
Do you enjoy not liking it?
Genuine questions.

Why do you think that criticising a single episode means people "don't enjoy TGT"?
Why is it that there are so many people who cannot accept other's opinions on a single episode?
Why are so many of those criticising others doing it in such an aggressive way?
Why is it that anyone who uses the phrase "snowflake" automatically comes across as a moron?
Sorry, missed this. Not sure if it's directed at me? But to try and answer...

- I guess it doesn't, but there must be a line between enough reason for criticism and not enjoying it? Is it not implicit that by continuing to watch it that you enjoy it? Or perhaps just enjoy criticising it?
- Standard PH/Internet. Everyone is wrong other than you (not you personally, just in general!)
- Keyboard warriors? Not rubbed one out in a while?
- Haven't followed that part of the thread. Perhaps ironic after question 3? wink

I have always liked Top Gear, I have enjoyed Grand Tour. I have always cringed when they have wrecked what look like half decent cars but accept that as part of the show. I know not all episodes will be top of the game, can be predictable, scripted etc etc. I enjoy it as an entertainment show and sometimes useful info about cars.

The 'special' I really struggled with. How did they get round the strict rules in place for animal welfare in TV and film. Than wasting fish by diesel smoking them!! For me seeing those fish in that putrid tank of water slowly suffocating was anything but entertaining, ruined what would have otherwise been a usual silly banter filled pisstaking of each other show that I enjoy.

Yes it is. Moet was German.
Dutch, surely.
I just looked on the internet, and they do indeed say Dutch. I was going on a conversation I had years ago with a friend who is a Master of Wine. He told me German. He was probably drunk at the time.

In any event there are many far nicer Champagnes.
Yebbut, nobbut, yebbut.... The Dutch family were not called Moët. The name Moët was invented and given to LeClerc by the French. So it's a French name.
Regardless, it's pronounced with a hard T. It even says so on the Moët website.

Apart from the fist soaking captain slow got it was not funny, for me it was the weakest episode of this series.
The rest of series two was a huge improvement over series one so well done to the guys.

I don't really have a problem with the fish that were already dead - as others have pointed out, the fishermen had probably been paid well for them, so it was just wastage at the worst.

But, yes, like you I was rather uncomfortable with the slow snuff movie of James's Aquarium of Death, especially the shot of the fish gasping its last near the end.

fks sake, it's a few dead fish.

Unless you are vegan we all contribute a lot more to animal suffering every day of our lives than a few fish left over from the morning's catch.

Thought it was funny, it's a TV programme, entertainment, if you're not entertained, then don't bloody watch it again.

I've said it before, but the adenoidal car bore impression that Clarkson regularly does represents most people posting on this site/thread, you do realise that....

It's a valid point about any animal suffering, whether rat or whale. Someone was recently prosecuted for launching a rat over a factory roof.

It's less valid if any of the posters are fishermen because I don't agree with that either.

Fully accept that, however tv and film are supposed to follow strict guidelines re animal welfare for the purposes of entertainment. Not sure that was followed with this.

I'm not sure internet content is covered by the same rules as broadcast tv and film.

And normal everyday fish.

To put in context - In todays news, scientists went to the bottom of the ocean, 4,800 metres down and grabbed 42,000 fish that are not used to being disturbed, hauled them out and killed to study them.

Some new to us and never seen before, could have made a species extinct for all we know.

Unfortunately eggs have to be broken to make omelettes, I imagine minimal fish were actually in May's tank alive.

And we will probably find through the magic of TV production where everything we see is not real, they had some live fish in a tank that were used for closeups but the fish in the tank in the car were already dead before they left.

It can be funny, this episode wasn't. Nothing to do with the fish.

I don't believe fish are not covered by the same guidelines as animals.
