Changing the current subject a bit- which episode was it in which they blew up the house? I seem to have missed it.
Thanks.

After initially giving up after episode 6. Then I was convinced by a friend to watch the last 2 episodes.

Like many have already said, it is like night and day compared to the rest of the series.

I've subsequently watched the intervening episodes and they are generally as rubbish as the first 6, but the last two were really quite good. I'd be interested to know why they they were so different to the rest.

If the next series is like the last episodes, then I will be very happy. If it is like the previous ten, then I won't.

As a series as a whole, it was pretty dire, but the last two episodes give hope that they were just finding their feet in a new organisation and structure. If the films were shot out of sequence and the rubbish films are more indicative of the direction, then I guess we'll find out when it comes back. I do hope not though.
bit confused by your post. You said you stopped after episode 6 and watched the last 2 so if you missed 7 though to 11 you missed almost half the series . The hype carried the first episode and it was bound to come down from that high but it improved more or less throughout the series and the last two were just a continuation of the improvement.
Did you miss the bit of my post where I said "I've subsequently watched the intervening episodes"?

Not sure how any if it can be confusing. Basically, the majority of this series was poor imo.The last two shows however, were good and give hope that future series might be worth watching.

Is that clear enough now or would you prefer pictures?

People on this thread have a religious zeal towards the series. If you say you didn't like it, you're told not to watch it. If you say you didn't watch it all, they say you're not allowed to comment.

I expect the poster was trying to expose you as the latter : A complainer who didn't watch it all.

I think because you've actually watched all of it, you can make a few negative comments but they'll be watching you now for sure.

Perhaps repeatedly announce you found it most enjoyable and laughed at it all, insult some critics with wking emojis and make up some statistics to prove it's actually more popular than game of thrones, which is clearly nonsense.

They disappoint some tt (Anthony from Gas Kings https://www.instagram.com/gas.kings/?hl=en )

who asks "how hard were you laughing" [at Top Gears demise under Evans]

They weren't laughing as it turns out (This will annoy many of the fkwits in this thread as well!) And hope the new series will be good.

They do make the point that you are allowed to watch more than 1 car show.

Inevitably the comments to the side of that video are written by low IQ types who don't get that point. And feel that TG should be stricken from the earth!
I cant remember them saying negative stuff about the BBC and I expect they will all be back in different shows at sometime in the future.
If the new series of TG is the best ever then that will be fantastic.

Wouldn't it be good if the tent segments were just like that? Without the plugging of DT of course.

Ah yes, that would make sense.

Do you have to bow down to an altar to Clarkson on a daily basis in order to have an opinion then?

Do I need to look out for black Omegas turning up now?

yes

Even Hammond was normal.

I know it's scripted. But they need to sack Porter and the others. Quite frankly the script is the primary cause of the cack in TGT.

They CHM just need to have basic direction.

"Get in the 3 cars and drive from A to B and when we get there we'll be off-roading in your cheap saloons"
Camera crew. Film everything!

They are mates so the banter will come naturally. Like it does with ALL genuine groups of mates

Not sure if this has been posted recently, but the Grand Tour audience in the UK was 2 million in Dec 2016 and Jan 2017. Perhaps 3 million if pirated viewers are included. That is roughly -60% less than the TG audience when Clarkson left in 2015. And roughly -70% less than the TG peak in 2008.

A rough guess says GT attracted perhaps £50-75m of fresh Prime revenues for Amazon UK in just 3 months. Clawed back perhaps a third of what Amazon paid CHMW.

So, a mixed picture. Low relative viewing figures, but seemingly decent financials.

I genuinely can't see viewing figures being anywhere near that high. According to the Guardian last year Amazon only had 1.6m subscribers.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com...

Other sources have said 1.45m was the total viewers for first episode worldwide. There's also reports saying they can't filter out where the viewings actually happened.

Subscription tv cuts viewing figures back badly. Sky sports only averages 1m viewers for premier league football games.

Is 2.3m the total viewing over the month of December? So 2.3m over 4 or 5 episodes?

The viewing figures quoted recently are an external estimate, so take them with as many truckloads of salt as you like.

I watched the series - we already had prime due to an error by my missus ordering some stuff from Amazon previously.

I would say that it is better having the three of them doing this than no output at all. Entertaining (even very) at times, boring in its predictability at others, good filming, overall I enjoyed the series. Clearly they are a little hamstrung by the conditions exiting as presenters of the previous program. Although I was not rushing to see an episode each Friday, after watching the final Dubai episode over lunch, overall I hope I get to see another series.

More: car stuff, conversatIon street banter, road trips.

Less: The American, pointlessly going places where audience does not engage, doing nothing else in the locality.

And if you say you did enjoy it, you get told that you're an idiot and clearly some dribbling Mrs Browns Boys fan.

Works both ways.

I did enjoy the Grand Tour, and Mrs Browns Boys when I get time to watch it. Does that make me the typical stereotype viewer?rofl

Granted it's a piece from the hate rag that is the Mirror.

But I find part of it pretty tragic. I'm hoping it was meant far more humorously that it looks

He (and Wilman) ALL did well out of the BBC during the TG years. They sold the whole shebang to BBC for 12Million (IIRC) SO for them to imply that they were hard done by the BBC and that NOW they are doing better seems off. (Perhaps even over egging it to cover up)

Sure, they are making more money. But in terms of producing better quality episodes than current BBC TG. I'm not sure they've won...

He seems very bitter about it all considering how amazingly rich he's now telling everyone he is. I would imagine he's a complete nightmare to work with.

I don't know him or his circumstances, but in general terms I would imagine that anyone constantly surrounded by sycophants would start to believe their own hype. It could have been a big hit on his ego to get cut down to size by being fired.

Clarkson def won financially from Amazon. He made extra millions on top of the previous BBC millions. And got paid to travel the globe on expenses.

But Clarkson lost artistically. His global screen audience has collapsed by roughly -90% since leaving BBC and joining Amazon. GT has failed to crack the big markets, America and China. GT episodes started well, but fizzled out quite poorly in the end. New Top Gear, its main rival, has improved and is now nearly as good.

Of course, having millions in the bank is awesome. But when he sits down of an evening and thinks about it, the audience loss and slow-motion-car-crash artistic deterioration are going to sting.
