I'd have liked to have heard a proper opinion about the Civic Type R other than May saying "I really like it."

That episode needed to be twice as long, with at least an hour talking to the guests.
Excuse the poor quality, but this is an enjoyable interview (from memory - I have not watched it for a year or two)

Brilliant episode this week, not too bothered about a conclusion on the Type R I can read a million different ones all over the internet.

The Aston and the Jag are just sublime, can’t beat a proper 6 cylinder lump. Stunning shots, cars and scenery. This is what the whole crew do best.

Why not? I fail to understand the question.
Because every week, without fail, at least one car blows up or gets destroyed. It's the same recycled unfunny attempt at comedy that they seem to do over and over again.

Part of me loves the idea of the new/old cars but the difficulties of ownership as shown make them an unpractical proposition. If I had a car like that, I'd want to tour the planet in them, as they have. But at the costs shown, and the difficulties associated with driving them, I think an Eagle E-Type makes more sense.

To be honest, I wonder if they got 30+ times more enjoyment out of driving those than if they had taken a pair of high powered Caterhams. I've toured in Caterhams (plural) and you get noise, significant power, the visuals of an old-looking car, handling and road holding dynamics, and the feeling that you're doing something out of the ordinary.

You even get some sort of roof, a gearbox that is a joy to use, modern fuel injection and ignition (no fouled plugs there), and brakes that have no historical complications. You can park them without the fear that a serious investment is at risk because, while they're not exactly cheap, they don't cost more than your house. And they have reasonable security.

I haven't missed the point though... I'd still choose an Eagle GT if I could. I think that compares very favourably with the two oldies presented.

But I bet both of those could be made better with *some* modernity. Maybe not the Jag, as that seems to be built specifically to be a continuation, but the Aston wasn't.

Nice, but collectors would be more interested in the real deal rather than any modern replica I'd have thought.

The Eagle is a slightly different proposition though, it’s more resto mod than restored. It looks like the old car but a lot underneath is all modern. Best of both worlds really.

very good.I guess they make the st funny episodes so we appreciate the good episodes better.
More likely that they have a st boat ton of people to please so make some naff dicking about films for those who like that and not cars and films like the group B rally and today's old but new Jag/Aston for people like us.

The Aston / Jaguar bit was superb, but did take a bit of a nose-dive when May arrived in the Civic Type-R, and he was rather cast against type as the fanboi. Whilst it would have been more predictable, I'm surprised they didn't cast Hammond in that role.

Still, it was a good episode and I enjoyed it.

As others have said, for once the celeb bit was the highlight. Stuart Copeland was especially entertaining I thought, and the three of them worked well together and came across as genuinely chatting rather than staying to a script (regardless of whether or not they actually were).

Going to have to agree. It’s starting to feel like genuine banter which I think has been lacking. To me TGT, up until the last couple of episodes, was feeling very “forced”. It’s only been the last couple of episodes that (to me) feel like things have really gelled.

That was great!

Why di they do this. In S01 the first 8 episodes or so were ste, then the last couple were good. Same story here. The first 2/3rds of S02 cack. Finally doing decent pieces!

Even watched a bit of Nick Mason interview.

The couple in the Toyota made me laugh (as did the crew) But THAT is what unscripted really means! laugh

Banked track was awesome too!

On the less Awesome scale. The fake numbers on dashboards. "216" on the GT dash. Yet he then pulled for another gear. They've done it before (on TG and TGT) and it just gripes. No need! Mays Civice said 130ish IIRC on the banking.
