WTF? eek

I'd be extremely surprised if anyone had not heard of Pink Floyd, nor if anyone with even a passing interest in cars was unaware of Nick Mason's car collection.

Edit: Sorry, I guess I just fed the troll didn't I. paperbag

Who is tempted to create a new username named "nobody" and then boldly state they in fact did know who they were?

I'd be surprised if there are typical TGT audience aged people who haven't heard Another Brick In The Wall or Learning To Fly.

Nick Mason looked quite old I thought.
I didn't think he looked bad, I'm 20 years younger and will be in worst condition at his age.

Must be my rock n roll lifestyle.

enjoyed that, expected Mason to be a little quicker but great to see him on.

the bumps in the track looked genuinely scary, that Aston was really bouncing.

I don’t have a rock and roll life style. Far from it. Yet I feel old. I feel like I should have one though!

Liked the driving through Pau bit, very nice.

As an aside surprised that Nick Mason wasn't quicker.
Super-rich old-man classic racecar collector not actually a fast driver.

Shocker. Who knew?

Yep it was a good one this week, I did also think that May and Hammond's parts got switched in the Jag/Aston/Honda film. The Aston especially looked scary over that banked track, with the back end bouncing around (maybe it was longer travel suspension than on a modern car but the back wheels looked like they were in the air a few times over the bumps). No comments here on Clarkson drilling out the side window? hehe .

Good old yips. If he wasn't so entertaining I'd hope he would get banned, but I suppose the mods are kind to him as he only gets to post when on day release.

They must have permission to treat the cars the way they do. It won't cost Aston or Jag much to recommission them after a bit of rough treatment, and will be worth it for the publicity.

Think he has a point actually. I would suggest that a large proportion of the global audience for TGT would walk past either Copeland or Mason on the street an have no idea who they were. Believe it or not, only people from 'our' generation really remember The Police, and whilst Pink Floyd are substantially bigger, they appeal to music lovers of a certain demographic. Pink Floyd appealed to people that really liked music, rather than those that just liked a bit of 'pop'. Not everyone appreciates such bands.

My daughter (20) has a broad music taste, but has no idea who either of these people would be. She would have heard some of their music having been exposed to it through me. She would know of the bands but not the people in it.

The son in law (to be) is 26 and has a much less broad taste in music and might have heard the names of both groups wouldn't recognise their music, let alone their drummers.

My wife is from the right generation for both these groups but had no interest in Pink Floyd apart from 'the wall' . She wouldn't have any idea who their line up was let alone heir drummer. Yes she was a casual fan of The Police, but she would only have recognised Sting if she wasn't specifically told in the introduction who Copeland was.

So four adults in our home, three of them wouldn't know these people without being told who they are.

My daughters are 18 and 21 I’ve taken both to see the wall in concert and they both listen to pink floyd albums. In fact their Spotify play list is pretty much all my music list from my origional iPod thing.
They know who he is. I seem to have managed one thing right possibly.

I'm guessing you don't REALLY live in a world of 100% adheration to the literal meaning of every word and phrase? I'm also pretty sure that you actually understand what yipper was conveying, and your reliance on being right by quoting the word "nobody" as being an absolute is just you admitting that your original argument is flawed.....

Yipper is a troll....? No, I don't think he is. Perhaps he's someone a bit 'special'. No more than that.

They respect and admire the things special to you, and have grown to appreciate them themselves. Many people don't have this relationship between generations, And in fact generally regard what the older generation like as being 'uncool'. If only it wasn't this way, we wouldn't have to put up with some of the bilge on the radio.....

I bet if you asked your neighbors kids they wouldn't have a clue who these 'old men' were.

Out of interest, would they have recognised Copeland if they passed him on the street do you think? The Police were a massive band, but substantially differently profile and fan base to the Floyd.

They never used to bother to ask, they'd just assume they could.

I'm in my late forties, and I've always hated Pink Floyd.

I did like Police, but I had no idea Beaker off the Muppets was their drummer...
