The Grand Tour

Yes, I mentioned it a few pages back. On my 50mb FTTC is was really struggling on Friday night with buffering. I contacted Amazon via the phone app about the issue and when watching the second part on Saturday is was sorted, albeit at a lower resolution.
I'm not sure if Amazon have enough bandwidth for TGT to be honest.
I'm fairly sure Amazon won't be struggling for bandwidth. I'm pretty sure they also host Netflix and have a huge infrastructure.I'm not sure if Amazon have enough bandwidth for TGT to be honest.

Does anyone else find it frequently stopping to buffer? I watch it on a system with Ethernet connection direct to the router and 80mb FTTH connection. The kids are in bed so I'm the only one online.
Only happens of grand tour. I watched a film on prime last night and it was fine.
We have that problem too. We've got a 15-20 mb connection (the bloody Amazon app even tells me that when I start watching something) and then for no reason it drops down to 1-2 mb and keeps buffering. Never happens with Netflix or YouTube. Very irritating indeed.Only happens of grand tour. I watched a film on prime last night and it was fine.
And now that you mention it, I'm not sure it happens with anything other than TGT. I watched a film the other night and it was fine and my wife was watching something earlier today and that had no issues either. Strange, but glad it's not just us!

Due to it being an amazon show jezza and gang basically advertise cameras and stuff you can order off the amazon site
and the car arriving wrapped in plastic is some sort of dream from 10 years ago before we decided excess plasic wrapping is wrong.
Not quite terrible but not a patch on say the bbc top gear bolivia trip. Its only the fact that im finally sick of the repeats
on Dave that I want to see how they are getting along.
They seem to have an army of ex military onboard wherever they go. I imagine a gonzo phone shot show by them would be wildly more entertaining.
Are you so sad you genuinely think they're actually advertising cameras you can buy? Seriously? I suppose in any film or series where, say, a telephone is used.... They must be advertising that phone, too? You can buy pretty much anything on amazon, so I guess they shouldn't use anything?and the car arriving wrapped in plastic is some sort of dream from 10 years ago before we decided excess plasic wrapping is wrong.

Secondly, I think the cynic in you meant you TOTALLY missed the point on the plastic wrapping
As many have commented the first part of the Columbia Special was tired, and full of pratfalls we had seen before, the second part was really good though and up there with some of the best specials.
However for all those saying they should "concentrate on the specials" and this is "where they are at their best" the "normal" episode set in Detroit was considerably more entertaining than the first half of this special. It is a mixed bag really some ordinary episodes are really good and it seems to me that for every "polar" special there is an "Indian road trip" one.

Three episodes in and I personally find there's something a bit tragic about it all now. I'm fairly convinced that they're desperately trying to be deliberately offensive and cause their own media storm. Whilst held under the leash of the BBC it was only the relatively subtle 'slope on bridge' comments that managed to slide through but now we're full-on into 'man f*cking a donkey' territory and pre-adolescent gay jokes.
Having said that, there are still lots of moments I enjoy. Hammond driving over the bridge made me feel really uneasy and I know there's no way they'd ever let him to do that if there was a genuine risk but scenes like that do manage to prey on genuine fears like any good horror movie does. It's really good stuff with excellent photography and this is the stuff they do really well.
If they could take the immaturity and the desperate attempts to be offensive a just dial it back a couple of notches, I'd find it a far more enjoyable show but at the moment I'm just find it that little bit tragic, which I guess is exacerbated by the fact Clarkson and May look like they're about to keel over and die at any moment; quite possibly at the thought of having to visit a dental hygienist.

Maybe, given the global reach of the programme, that more people in other nations find it funny hence bigger selling appeal etc.I thought Mr. Bean was st yet isnt it one of the biggest selling comedies or something?

It turns out that the donkey fking is a genuine cultural observation.E65Ross said:

In a world where product placement is a real part of advertising, it wouldn't surprise me if they were specifically buying stuff that you can buy on Amazon etc. Secondly, I think the cynic in you meant you TOTALLY missed the point on the plastic wrapping
Not in every film or TV where they use a certain phone is the phone being advertised, but quite often it can be. How many times do you see them specifically on the phone, with the logo prominently displayed and maybe some of the features demo'd...

Does it matter? Most of this show is about reviewing cars, are you complaining that the first episode was no more than an advert for three American muscle cars? Not in every film or TV where they use a certain phone is the phone being advertised, but quite often it can be.
