Can somebody explain what was presumably a gag behind the frequent showing of the ensign on Clarkson's PBR. It looked like defaced blue ensign of The Cook Islands.

Maybe due a brightly coloured parrot, but I don't get it.
The boat was propelled by NZ Hamilton water jets.
It was just the British EU flag wasn’t it? I only saw it fleetingly but put it down as a Brexit gag.

I hugely enjoyed it. Normally the specials can be a bit too much but I found this enjoyable and for once laughed at a few bits like the noisy generator where they were staying. Who cares if that wasn't real lol

Also genuinely looked like the sea fked them massively lol.

Jeremy history pieces too are both insightful and interesting. I personally knew the history of Cambodia or the Vietnam war but it's nice to get other human story's from it like the rescue etc.

Maybe next time they can do it in aircraft. Hammond in a Huey, May in an F14 and we Clarkson can't fly so maybe a Patton tank.

Also I wasn't sure on the Cook Island flag reference but I do know one thing that I am a sad bd as I knew it was the Cook Island flag lol.

The F14 was first introduced at the very end of the Vietnam war and did not take part in any combat missions.
Maybe you meant to say F4?

Well I really enjoyed that.

As somebody said above more war stories and scenery would have been good.

Now where can I find a 20k scarab although I actually think I’d prefer Mays wooden boat.

It was pretty good. No idea why people think because it is a bit scripted beforhand that its easier.
Standing around or having to redo stuff to get it right in oppressive hot conditions probably isn't much fun.
They are all pushing on a bit so to put themselves through that plus the sea voyage is
pretty risky.
They have nothing to fear from the 3 young bores on topgear. Especially as they have some
bbc nazis policing their every utterance.

Thanks, at last, it does make sense. Number of times they focussed on just the flag it was evident there was a gag somewhere. Why? Because Clarkson.

Sounds like something i should probably catch up on when I'm back in the UK next week - just been in Siam Riep and Battenbang to arrive in Phnom Penh today. Going to visit the killing fields and S21 tomorrow...

Agreed, absolutely woeful.

Boat struggles, boat goes somewhere, they race past May, rinse and repeat.

As usual, it was (well, mostly) predictable, but in parts enlightening - it also had a fair few laugh-out-loud moments. I'd give it eight out of ten.
