The Grand Tour

It was definitely a high-scoring episode of CHM bingo:
- Clarkson struggles to control his vehicle and crashes into local inhabitants' boats/buildings multiple times - check.
- Repeated unnecessary crashing into each other - check
- At least one of them gets stuck in some mud and pays some locals to get them out - check.
- Clarkson and Hammond speed off into the distance, leaving May to plod along behind - check.
- Clarkson and May sneak out of a hotel at night with some spray paint to deface Hammond's vehicle - check.
- Hammond refuses to eat anything that he can't buy at his local Waitrose - check.
Absolute 'boiler plate' Top Gear episode... just remove wheeled vehicles - add boats.
Little bit of history, little bit of social context and the plight of the inhabitants, plenty of cocking about.
Loved Clarkson's boat - would like to have heard a bit more about the build if it really was a one-off remake special. £100K might not have actually have been that expensive.
Hamond's boat looked pretty handy too.

Found it a little bit slow compared to other specials, and the "oh look James is way behind again" a bit repetitive.
Liked the little serious touches such as the occasional history of the countries and the PBR, the exposure at the start of Chinese dam building (and not just trying to pretend it was due to global warming), and also Clarkson's words about not haggling in overseas markets where they probably need the money more than we do. Like others, would like to see Clarkson do more documentaries.
Surprised Greta's Army haven't taken huge offence that their three boats, and maybe some of the camera boats, must have been flown or shipped half way round the world out there to make the show.
Overall a great programme.

Overall a great programme.
She's too busy trying to make DB look bad for her sitting on the floor on a train, when she was actually given 1st Class seating. Overall a great programme.
