Can't see there being a S2 either.

I wonder whether, when CHM did the deal with Amazon, they were paid up front and agreed to make x number of shows over y years, or if they are being paid for each project they do.

This survivalist thing doesn't sound much cop; May's cookery show may be diverting, but he hasn't exactly spent much money making it, and Clarkson doesn't seem to be in a hurry to make his farming show (and I have my own expectations of how it will turn out)

I guess Covid has delayed the farming show. They were filming it 2 years ago as Harry Metcalfe (of Garage and Farm YT channels) was at a farm sale chatting to Clarkson who had an Amazon crew with him.

Has a bit of a feel of trying to pad out their production contract with whatever random crap they can come up with after the original thing fell flat.

Feels like Amazon (and the audience, and the stars) doesn't care much any more, promotion levels are nowhere near where they were and the original concept they started with seems thoroughly dead, with the 'specials' on the way to joining it.

That's what I mean. It's like Amazon have spent the money, and kind of lost interest (possibly because TGT wasn't as successful as they'd hoped, so they're looking the other way and hoping it all goes away) and CHM have got their money and are just running the clock down.

I managed just over half an hour of Hammond's island thing and just couldn't do it to myself anymore. Total tripe. HOWEVER, I did watch (and I use that word to mean 'had on whilst browsing the net etc') May's Japan series and his latest cookery thing. I found the cookery thing mildly entertaining but I did find myself on more than one occasion hitting the 'skip on' button.

The TGT specials have been average at best, but in this age of slim pickings I'd take another 'average at best' special from them...

As an aside, Jeremy Clarkson and Gary Lineker are the same age...JC looks like GL's Dad!!!

Gary Lineker spent his youth playing sport. Jeremy Clarkson spent his smoking and drinking!

Erm...exactly. A more stark example of why looking after yourself a bit is probably not a bad thing. wink

I guess it would be interesting to see/ hear who has had the most entertaining/ interesting life though!

Oh I dunno - I can't imagine GL has a squeaky clean closet. He was in a squad with Gazza etc, remember. wink Ha ha.

Mind you, I don't equate heavy drinking and smoking to having an entertaining/interesting life. Some of the later TGs and particularly the TGTs where Clarkson looks pregnant - that's really not good. Hardly matters, tho - it's his body etc so I'm really not judging. I was really just providing a comparison to go with others' earlier comments about him looking old/past it/etc. smile

Not sure the Grand Tour "fell flat". It was a new format and took some time to bed in, but got better season by season. Probably very expensive though which is why, no doubt, the main show wasn't renewed.

As for the Specials well they would have found it hard to film those during a pandemic, which is probably why we have had just one (filmed prior I believe) in the past year.

I think the main show stopped because all three of them are old, tired, and filthy rich.

They need to retire it. It’s just pointless now.

Albeit I really enjoyed the mongolia(?) one.

Although most of us on here think most things they have done on Amazon have been rubbish, we have still watched them and paid for Prime
Amazon may consider the deal a huge success.

Prime means I get postage free and next day (for most stuff). The TV channel is just a bonus.

Quite right, I only signed up for Prime in December for next day delivery but seeing as I haven’t seen any of this new show I have watched it from S1E1 right up to the Bentley, RS and Caterham one, after every episode over the past 2 months I’ve then read this thread to the next point of call.

I see a lot of regular posters writing very similar posts over the 480odd pages which gets a bit tiring. What exactly are you expecting given their previous form?

I cannot stand those Geordie pair ITV have presenting most of their prime time shows so I don’t watch them.

EE customers get Prime video free with their contract. I wouldn't pay for it.

To quote EE "You'll get weak or no coverage indoors".

EE use WiFi Calling if the signal’s poor, I find usually when less than two bars. Calls go over your WiFi and broadband as long as your phone support it, I imagine most modern phones do.
