Went to see it yesterday with my 7.5 year old who has grown up with the first two and knows them almost word for word. We both loved it, great how it can appeal to both age ranges and has some incredible CGI/animation. He comes home talking about how cool Lightning McQueen is, I come home to check t'internet for facts about Smokey Yunnick, Louise Smith, Junior Johnson...

I now have a hankering for a road trip across the US searching out old race tracks and forgotten gas stations, and a 1960s muscle car...

Oliver.

I'm going to buck the trend here - my kids (9 year old girl and 5 year old boy) loved it but my son was restless at times and asked on more than one occasion when it was going to finish - but they did enjoy the, um, muddy scene and the tractors and we all properly laughed when they were on(hopefully that's not a spoiler)

However, I was mostly bored by it - fun, yes. Engaging? Not entirely. It was visually brilliant, of that there is no question - just not as good as the first.

I didn't think much to the soundtrack either - I can still think of and hum tunes from the first film even now.... Couldn't tell you any of them from this one.

Voice related spoiler:
I was disappointed with the lack of Michael Keaton too - that really jarred...

I think now that Pixar are a wholly owned inhouse film-maker of Disney, one can expect all the Pixar franchises to be stretched out.

So is the concensus that this isn't too dark for a 5 year old who loves Lightning McQueen? Was slightly put off by the first trailer, but the later trailers seem more suitable for a young'un

I absolutely loved Cars 3, as did everyone I went to see it with. A surprisingly grown up story with some good messages and great new characters. Naturally, the animation and sound design were absolutely brilliant too, as were all the amazing little details that only petrolheads would get.

In this day and age where cars are becoming increasingly vilified, it's lovely to have a franchise that truly celebrates the real heart and soul of the automobile. The original movie in 2006 made a real impact on my younger self when it came out - it played a huge part in ensuring I'm now a proper petrolhead.

I don't care that I'm in my mid twenties, I'm going to see it again!

Not at all.

People worrying about the big crash in this one forget there was a bug crash in the first one.

I agree with Miniman64, I took my 5 year old daughter whose birthday was on the day we went and she loved it.
