Car SOS - how good are their restorations?

Has this show, or any other of this type, ended with the recipient being upset?
I've seen clips on Youtube of a few home makeover shows where people get upset, but no motoring ones.
Yes - I think it was one of the first projects in the show, a black Cosworth... they took it on a track day and it was smoking like a trooper. If you watch the footage again you'll notice it was edited so you couldnt see the back end of the car while it was running.I've seen clips on Youtube of a few home makeover shows where people get upset, but no motoring ones.
I think someone mentioned the owner complained a bit.

and for me it should have been repainted in the original green and red
There was some mention in the beginning about the colour as they were loading it on to the trailer, but I was skipping through stuff so I don't know what was said. There was also mention that the blue was the chaps favourite colour and everyone seemed happy with the end result, so it couldn't have been "don't change the colour, whatever you do". Last one of series next week.
Last nights episode with the MGA was good. They seemed to do a proper restoration without the usual 3 week time limit, up until the staged jeopardy at the end when James Nesbitt couldn't make the agreed handover date. The grille quiz to get a discount was as cringe inducing as always too.

I can imagine the DVLA having kittens over the identity of that car, but still - no harm done.
Lovely job, it looked like a brand new car, because it pretty much was.
Why? The vin is on the chassis and that's the same, the body panels are all removable and in this case all replaced. Even has the same engine. No problem. Lovely job, it looked like a brand new car, because it pretty much was.

Good episode last night and for those on here who can’t cope with tim’s part it was all of about 45 seconds long. Thought Nesbit was good too. The car was stunning.
There was the minute or so with the red and green stickers as well. Utterly pointless and they went over what had to be thrown away later. I thought you could get most of the tinware new from various outlets. I am under the impression that a lot of the stuff sold by the MG Owners' Club uses the original presses.
I would have liked more on the chassis repair. It was rather threadbare I thought and unlikely to take new metal. Perhaps they didn't what the powers than be to see too much. I'd have used a new chassis and added the old number.
Lovely car. The most beautiful MG sports car. They appeared to have produced a good 'un.

They should do a Car S.O.S. extra for everyone really interested in the more technical aspects of the restoration, They must have some footage available that isn't included in the transmitted program.niva441 said:

Car SOS is brill - the chemistry between Tim and Fuzz is what everyone moans about lacking in other shows.
Tim's nobbing about is no big deal, his overall presenting is great, and his interaction with the customer is superb. All just my opinion.

Even my mrs. watches it.

That's the point. Even if every petrolhead in the UK watched it, they would still not be in profit. They have to appeal to as lrge a demographic as possible. It must have been just as annoying for keen gardeners when Alan, Charlie and Tommy were on our screens.
Finally watched the pre war Austin episode yesterday.
Cold metal stitching! Glad I got to see old school engineering like that!
Even Tim didn't grate as much as he has previously.
The only thing I would really change is the cheap looking key ring they present to the owners. It looks like they bought a job lot for a tenner.
