I thought Sunday's was a good one overall. The TG threads do cheer me up when people say they've never seen the celeb before and don't know who they are. This week people have never seen Black Books, Green Wing, Friday Night Dinner, Episodes, Shaun of the Dead or listened to The Archers in the last 20 years hehe .
Yep, that would be me.
Me too. And to raise the hackles further I've never actually heard of Black Books, Green Wing or Friday Night Dinner either. Get me, I must be either uber cool or a bare faced liar.

I was going to post the same. I simply don't watch every TV program ever made, nothing strange about that. I watch a couple of hours TV each night, and we generally stick a film on saturday nights. We've got sky and netfix, plus tons of box sets on a media server (and sky). That plus normal sky plus recording means we just have too much queued up to watch.

People watch different things to other people, that's completely ok. All tastes are different. So folks who happen to have watched things that others have missed is not because they "watch every TV program (sic) ever made." Likewise people who have missed things are not to be criticised or pitied.

I think it's pretty good, at least it's becoming more relevant by using cars that more folks can buy or would be interested in
Agree little silly with Sabine, of course she was let through, but there does seem a sincerity about the programme, I wish it and them well, Mike

Didn't like this episode quite as much as the previous 2.

Obviously the nurburgring lap was staged.... But it was a bit TOO obvious. Overtaking the 911 on the final bend before the last straight..... That bend is basically full throttle.

Slower car with amazing driver beats faster cars with slower drivers shocker lol.

Still, I'm enjoying the series on the whole and glad it's on. MLB is my favourite of the 3 presenters I think.

Staggered to hear so many people have never seen Black Books or The Green Wing.
Black Books is so long ago, I'd almost completely forgotten about it. I've never seen Green Wing and I don't listen to Radio 4.

Quotes (more or less) from the guy doing the Golf/'ring article.

"this is the choice you had in the 70's." (Dolomite Sprint).... Oh so there were no 3L Capris/ RS escorts/ 1800,2300 Magnums/ Lotus Sunbeams? rolleyes

"What are we going to pass here, it's a 3-series BM, imagine getting passed in a 3-series BM by a Golf." Made me cringe in my shoes. hurl

You're missing the point, not knowing who the person is isn't the issue, that's fair enough, I probably don't know half or more of the actors in the shows you watch, it's the inference that they can't possibly be a celebrity if you (not you in particular) have never heard of them.

Tamsin Greig is a premier league theatre actress too , as well as having a long career in TV and radio. No reason everybody who should have heard of her - I haven't heard of half the actors who are starring in the latest crash bang cgi wallop Hollywood action movie who are the usual fodder for chat shows and TG.

Exactly. Using phrases like "so-called celebrity" and "or whatever his name is" just make you sound like a dick.

In this age of information, ignorance is a choice.

If a guest comes onto Top Gear who I have not heard of, I generally just assume that they must be known by others, otherwise they would not be on the show. If I'm interested enough then I might Google their name. I certainly wouldn't go onto an internet forum and claim that the guest wasn't famous because I had not heard of them.

But equally there seems to be some incredulity that someone doesn't known a particular celeb, and they are only doing it to "look cool".

Even very popular shows get over looked by lots of people. I was late to the Sopranos, Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Big Bang Theory and Breaking Bad. The upside is that when I start watching them I have loads to watch!

Indeed it was - her, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Steven Mangan were just superb. I think Olivia Coleman was in it too before Peep Show.

Maybe 'look cool' was incorrect wording, but using 'so called' etc definitely implies that if the person has never heard of them they can't be a 'celebrity'

P.s ive never seen a single episode of The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Big Bang Theory or Sons of Agony, however I wouldn't suggest because of that none of the actors aren't 'celebrities'

Two episodes in so far, and I am enjoying far more than the last series with evans, and more than the grand tour if I am honest.

Keep it up lads!

Twingo Pacman biggrin

Even if it's just half decent it's better than Grand Tour was (a few great moments aside)

Never thought I'd say that a year ago.

Seconded, perhaps a bit marmite but we loved it, really different, also love Friday Night Dinner, not ground breaking but decent sitcom, Mark Heap is in both and is utterly hillarious as Jim he odd neighbour and the freakish Dr Alan Statham, a class act.

And another clip from Green Wing, they go all Sparks, quite strange for a medical comedy

Really, watch Green Wing if you havent seen it, it is brilliant.
