I have to say, genuinely, aside from jay Kay being a massive douche that was the best episode I've seen of top gear in a long time
Same here even as a big Clarkson fan with lots of his books and videos that is the most I've laughed at a top gear episode in years and I've been watching it since the Noel Edmonds days.
I also think Matt le blanc is very nearly as good as Clarkson, top gear back to it's very best

So, ending the series on a low then.

In my opinion, without doubt the worst episode in this series by a very large margin.
Quite the opposite I thought, the best one
Well, each has our own opinion but from my point of view........

Porsche - boring boring boring. They all look the bloody same. No interest at all to me. Never be able to afford one and wouldn't buy one even if I could.

Russian offroader - Poor pastiche on the Marauder bit done by Hammond many years ago ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDoRmT0iRic )

Jay Kay - Only marginally more likeable than Gordon Ramsey - and I absolutely cannot stand him!! It would have been far more interesting to have one of the newer F1 drivers (Max Verstappen perhaps) do a lap. But I guess it would be hard to pad out 20 minutes of the show talking to a 19 year old about his motoring history!

Jordan/Ecclestone - WTF!!! you have got to be kidding. Two senile old gits talking about nothing worth listening to.

Rodius boat - A Top Gear first - a floating car.......... NOT! This is a bit like the Daleks, each time they are on you hope its the last. But no, here they are, back again. The difference with this one was that it ruined a very nice Sunseaker Hawk 27 boat and must have cost a fortune to build - Rough Hawks still go for £20k+. Far more fun when it's a HiLux crammed full of expanding foam and a bloody great outboard strapped to the back!

Just my opinions and not a precursor for an argument.

Boat bit and 8 wheel thing saved the show.

Never going to look at one of those Ssanyong (spelling?) things again in the same way. I bet they just doubled in value.

They have actually returned to the early Top Gear stuff when the previous 3 were doing new and silly stuff for the first time with a greater emphasis on the cars. What's better here is that it's not just purely cars so we get a bit of variety with boats, diggers and bikes too. Proper big boys toys stuff.

That russian off roader is ace too big for Britains road but if I lived else where I would buy one. Epic family motoring.

Really enjoyed this season of Top Gear. They done well to get rid of Chris Evans. Well done to them for giving Chris Harris a more imporant role this season comapared to last. Top Gear defineyly back with a bang.

I imagine I'm not the only one glad that smug tosser Jay Kay didn't get the fastest lap. Great episode with some genuine laugh out loud moments, especially during the eight wheeler segment and the Ssang Yacht segment.

The Ecclestone 'interview' was utterly pointless and Jay Kay is just a smug tosser but it doesn't matter it's been a good series with very little weak content. Can't wait for the next one.

Loved that episode apart from the wierd Bernie and Eddie interview.

Looking back across the whole series it's been the strongest one a long, long time.

My Sundays will have a void.

Jay Kay didn't even get close to Chris Hoy's time and he was wearing racing shoes, what a tosser.

I thought that was brilliant. Great way to end the series.

Lots of laugh out loud moments during the boat part.

Enjoyed the series, laughed a lot at the last episode. Jay Kay meh. He knows his cars and I respect him for that. I have a couple of his albums as I liked his stuff back in the day and I didn't find him that obnoxious tbh. Glad he didn't beat Chris Hoy though smile

Loved the 'suv' review.

The boat made me laugh a lot but what I really liked is that it was actually made well, compared to the often disastrous (though funny) conversions of old.

Matt Le Blanc shone this series, hope he continues them.

Wait. Are you having a go at Porsche or Top Gear here? If it's Porsche, is your complaint that they're too expensive? Do they all look the same? And that even if they were cheap, you still wouldn't buy one? You know this is Pistonheads, right?

That statement was stranger than the Eddie/Bernie bit.

Well it seems they saved the worst for last , the rest have been okay but this one was crap, glad I watched the MotoGP instead.
Except you evidently watched the MotoGP as well, not 'instead'
Okay instead of watching live I then fast forwarded a large chunk of it. smile

I really enjoyed this episode and the whole series - I was genuinely gutted when I sat down a couple of weeks ago to discover they had replaced Top Gear with golf. Ruined my Sunday night did that. fking golf.

Does Eddie Jordan still work for F1 on 4? If so, WTF didn't they carry that interview?

Yeah I mean it's not as if Hoy's been trained and actually raced at Le Mans or anything...

I've seen people turn up to car meets in racing shoes and race gloves lol

Pistonheads would be very boring if we all liked the same cars!!!

Just saying I would never own a (new) Porsche, there are cars I would far rather have for the same or less money.

Where does Jay Kay get the money from to pay for his impressive car collection? Can't imagine it's from sales of his music, does he have other "strings to his bow"?

Just watched on catch up and thought it was certainly improved. If I wanted a new Cayman though, I'd buy an old Cayman.

JK is looking a little sad now age is creeping up on him. I'm sure his shades cost a bundle but they looked like they should say turbo down the sides. He always seems to wear racing boots but he must have been gutted not to get fastest time. I can imagine him saying ''it's not fair though, the other guys a racing driver!''. No denying the guy has an awesome car collection though.

Are Bernie & Eddie going to audition for the Muppets? Or are they doing a Muppet section in the next series?

CH and MLB scripted banter is still a bit wooden but better than it was.

Rory Reid must make good coffee or something?

Seemed a better episode to me, despite JK, Bernie and Jordan.

But is anyone still watching? Viewing figures down at 1.6 million apparently.

Id says its perfectly possible with 25 million albums sold and 10 world tours under his belt.

Fairly certain he's got a lot of writing and production credits for songs also. Not s massive surprise he came second to a current GT/Sportscar driver/car enthusiast/professional athlete/all round stupidly talented fella though personally. I'd be delighted to be 7/10ths off
