I don't get what everyone's problem is with JK. He's a car nut and produces and sings easy listening funk. OK he's a minor irritant but nothing more. I'm sure I'd have a trace of smug about me if I had his wealth and car collection.
A few years back he pushed in front of me in a queue in a poster/art shop at Goodwood FoS. I didn't recognise him and he's not exactly big, so i had a word with him and pointed him to the back of the queue. He looked surprised but got the message. The guy I was with, who was more of a music fan, was speechless! Admittedly he was spending a lot more money than me, but there's no excuse for bad manners... generationx said:

I 100% disagree with the bold bit. CHM are just painfully obvious these days. The new boys actually made it seem genuine and fun. The fake peril is just ridiculous it's so transparent that it's just not even amusing in the slightest. Their Caribbean episode of TGT was perhaps the most cringeworthy thing I've ever seen.
I was sort of referring to their heyday ten or so years ago rather than the later repeat-to-fade episodes. I was also implying that TGT wasn´t all that, and agreed about the Caribbean skit - the Maserati one too.p1stonhead said:

To establish: I have enjoyed this series overall. MLB and CH I enjoy, RR a bit of a fifth wheel. But I thought this episode was one of the weaker ones.
I´´m not really bothered about the Cayman; the offroader was good fun; the cranes bit was filler; JK was inoffensive but (as has already been mentioned) a bit smug; Cuba was alright, at least they were having fun; the EJ + Bernie interview just didn´t seem to fit and anyway EJ bugs the tits off me; the Rodius boat was a bit of a wasted opportunity - Clarkson/Hammond/May/Wilman would have made much more about cocking about and getting stuff wrong, plus their inherent chemistry would have lifted it.Rory in the uniform just looked like a male stripper and they never really mentioned it.
Still, Sunday will be a quieter evening now and I´m actually looking forward to the new series, whereas the next TGT not so much.

So a polar opposite to last week's show where the best bit was the guest, to one where the worst bit was the guests, plural. Must admit amazed that JayKay wasn't the worst guest, the gurning Bernie was that, but the smug tosser wasn't far behind. The best bit was that he was owned by a bicyclist.
Cayman bit an honest review.
Russian thingy, amusing.
Boaty McFugly bit, got a genuine belly laugh with the champers through the rear screen.
All in all good series boys. Well done.
Clarkyson et al, spherical object is right in your court now boys.

I thought last night's was ok, but they're still forming and there will be better to come (hopefully). Agree with the sentiment above that it's now for CMHW to improve their game, which has to be good for the viewer.
Does anyone know what happened to Colin Furze's 100mph dodgem car segment?

I've basically given up on it, too wooden and too much "celebrity" content. Basically, I just don't get the time, don't get enough time to watch stuff I really enjoy , let alone stuff where there is the odd good part, but the rest often cringingly naff.
I think I read somewhere that the viewing figures had fallen to below 2 million, so it seems I'm not alone. Oh well, never mind, all comwe out in the wash!

Not a huge fan of his music, and in person, he may be fine, but the 'trackday hero'/car bore image he gave off last night somewhat fits with previous times I've seen him on stuff. He reminds me so much of the idiots you get on experience days or trackdays who, because of their years of supercar ownership, 'know what they're doing' and spend an entire day telling the very helpful and experienced instructors how good they are, and none of it listening to what they say. They more often than not stick their supercar in a barrier trying to keep up with someone in a track prepared Saxo VTR who actually knows what they're doing. In some circumstances they take some poor sod on their first ever trackday with them writing their car off in the process...
General rule of thumb.....no decent racing drivers wear 'racing driver shoes' at any other time than the bit where they're driving a car fast on a track....

No mention of Top Gear Extra? I've not bothered watching the last two episodes, but as there are no comments on here I'm guessing I'm not the only one. I will watch them eventually.
They are actually ok usually. Some fairly interesting insight in one or two of them.Well I really enjoyed that episode and the whole series.
Even the missus enjoyed last nights ep. The boat bit in particular was very funny, MLB is just brilliant, even RR I thought was good in it. The baywatch music when CH was on the skis was just hilarious.
I even enjoyed the Bernie bit, was very odd but I found it interesting, didn't know he was linked to the great train robbery.
As others have said JayKay came across as smug, it felt like he was thinking this is my mate Clarksons gig you guys are trying to take over. It wasn't their fault Clarkson blew it for himself.
Bring on the next series!

Im definitely enjoying the new Top Gear, this second series has mostly been great and the hosts all getting more comfortable now. The Extra Gear host is very dithery and nervous but thats a good watch as well, behind the scenes stuff etc.
JK and Bernie Ecclestone are a right pair of tts.
