Vauxhall Cavalier GSI - Track Car
Discussion
Watching with interest! I too have a weird fondness for the cavaliers. Specifically the GSI. I had two of them back in the early 2000's. Both red. One was a 2wd (which I crashed) and one was a 4x4. Loved those cars but ultimately I sold out as the 4x4 needed new rear arches that as a student I couldn't afford.
Those were the days. all my mates buzzing around in 1L corsa's and I was in the grandad car.

Nice, nice. Big Cavalier fan here as well, had a couple as early cars, though only the dull models that were cheap.
Plenty of love out there for them still as well, maybe not always on PH, but there's plenty of clubs who can help you out as well.
Thanks mate. I'll probably dig into some of the clubs for specific tuning information. The Cavalier seems a bit unloved when it comes to track parts.Plenty of love out there for them still as well, maybe not always on PH, but there's plenty of clubs who can help you out as well.

That's a lovely Cavalier in the picture. I love them in that colour, the red ones must be some of the rarest? This one is a 2wd GSI, apparently quicker than the 4x4?
Yep, the 4x4's were significantly heavier hence slower. The 2wd went off to the scrap yard and my 4x4 was sold to a guy called Dougie that was a writer for Total Vauxhall magasine. He ended up putting a V6 into it. God knows where it is now!!ETA: just googled and found some pics of it in its V6 guise. Currently no MOT and sorn though

He tells me that he's welding up the sills, and has to drop the engine out again to sort it out more. But progress is slow, he also seems to do up old trucks as well now, as well as all his other cavaliers.
nice guy though.

My Dad had an endless number of Mk3 Cavalier company cars in the early 90s, I hated them at the time, except one which he had while he was waiting for his 94 1.8 LS to be built. I don't remember what model it was, but suspect it was an SRI, it was on a J plate, dark metallic green with alloy wheels, black leather interior with factory spoiler and fog lights. It also had a car phone, all the things that mattered to my 8 year old self! My Dad hated it as in early 90s Bristol it was pretty hard to keep hold of the wheels or the whole car, which was a constant worry for him. He was pleased when his new LS turned up, I wasn't.

How random is that just reading this thread then noticed the coach in the background, I live 30 seconds from their base, they don't have any coaches that old though so must be an old pic!ETA: just googled and found some pics of it in its V6 guise. Currently no MOT and sorn though
