Not a bad episode. I'm sure I saw a CV8 in the background being worked on so hopefully that's earmarked for a later episode. Thought Phil with the cat was rather amusing unlike Tim's blagging. Cut that back and add more of the restoration please.

should be on National Geographic catch up, which I can access via Sky catch up at home? Haven't looked specifically for Car SOS though

Just watched episode one. Is it just me or is there something strange about a guy who has worked in the motor trade all his life buying such a badly botched car as his own, personal project? A quick run over the bodywork with a magnet would have shown how much was filler. Sorry but I feel a little suspicious.
I thought exactly the same

Fuzz had a bit of a late night rant about 'the classic car business and the TV business" on his FB page the other night, saying he wished he was back in the world of (I paraphrase) "dysfunctional band memebers and semi-psychotic tour managers" - hopefully things not going the same way as Wheeler Dealers! frown

Jeez, never before have I watched so much of an episode on fast forward. This show is really going down the pan now.

Great to see the Aston Martin done. Hardly a deserving guy though was he? Obviously minted, he could've easily paid to have it done himself! So ill that he had to work on the other side of the world, behave!

Little bit less of Tim's antics and more focus on the work done would be nice as well.

I got the impression from watching the Aston Martin episode that it was a case of them wanting to roll out the Bond cliches and that the chance to work on an Aston was the over riding factor over a more deserving case with a less glamourous motor. I agree that Tim's arseing about is a touch annoying and I would like to see more of the work undertaken by Fuzz and the guys in the workshop.

Yes I guess you're right. The draw of the DB being stronger than the needs of the "client" in this case. Not many Astons hidden in council estates either I suppose.

Looking forward to the Renault 5 GTT in a couple of weeks!

Apparently the Aston isn't the most expensive car this season....

Found it interesting, but I'd rather then do 'Normal' carS. Would love to see a Transit being done or a Granada.

Looking forward to the Renault 5! smile

The budget must be massive for this series, the Merc must have been seriously expensive.

Just watching it now and that was my first thought. Lovely house, oil (I think) job overseas.

Lovely car but the story wasn't needed (except for the plot of the show)

Just spotted they're going to be starting a web series on YouTube - all the mechanical stuff in more detail.

That is pretty much TV nirvana for me and answers my concern that CSOS was following the usal path for these things as they grow, less detail and more drama.

Disagree with that. Thought the series has been excellent. We have a programme where they actually work on something. Tim's antics can be irritating at times but its just a bit of fun. Have to agree about the aston though, not exactly a deserving case in the general theme of past series.

Fiat Dino tonight, oh my, drop dead gorgeous, the program could probably easily be 2 hours long I never realised they had got so expensive.

Also as a sub story the owner is fighting Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, almost 2 years ago to the day I was being diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma funny how a program like this can bring back memories.

I attended a car sos filming session recently as I was writing a feature on it - subject embargoed until first shown on telly. Both presenters were exactly the same off camera as in front of it - likeable , enthusiastic and completely without pretence. Very stripped down production - camera, sound , director , presenters and that's it,Even the script is...ermm ..organic but I was very impressed to see apparent spontaneity and wit, even on take 8 ! , On a cold day at Bruntingthorpe my hope of my own personal trailer, hot tub , masseuse and chef were dashed- we survived on pot noodles and the odd coffee..al fresco.too...

That's great to hear - CSOS is not only a great alternative to an Edd China, it's shaping up to be a better show freed from the whole money aspect thing that's dogged Wheeler Dealer since they stopped doing £500 old bangers.

The DB6 episode certainly seems a little off. How much was that car worth when they started? £50K? That's just a guess but I would imagine it can't have been too high a figure and then end up with a car worth £500K. That seems like an awful lot of money to basically just hand to someone. If it's been sold as suggested I am really not surprised. The owner looked fairly well off but I would need to be pretty wealthy personally to be comfortable having a £500k car sitting in my garage.

Something doesn't make much sense with this. A new keeper from Nov last year but it's MoT date is 22nd January this year. Yet the MoT history shows only one previous attempt in Nov 2016 with failures on:

Nearside rear brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.5a)
Offside rear brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.5a)
Nearside rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.6a)
Offside rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.6a)
Service brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7)
Parking brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7)

No mention of the obvious structural rot that Fuzz immediately found. It's unlikely that a car that appears to have been stored in a dry garage since the failure could devlop so much rot in such a short time. No MoT history prior to this so it must have been off the road for quite a long time.

Even so, the current MoT date suggests that it was done for the Car SOS restoration. So whats going on with this then. Recent change of owner, previous MoT that doesn't even appear to be the same car. Seems like this was one VERY staged scenario just to do a restoration on a DB6. I doubt that the scottish guy even had anything to do with it other than 'acting' as the owner.
