Quite a few people are simply not sufficiently developed or evolved to cope with the extreme complexities of watching television. It's just too emotional an experience for them to process correctly and handle.
I think part of the problem is that these people don't think that celebrities are "real", and hence can say or do what they want like it is some kind of video game. If you put these people in front of the object of their ire then I doubt even 5% would still say the same thing to that person's face.

I doubt you'd get close enough to even 5% of them before being overcome by the stench of BO and month-old Pot Noodle tubs and dirty tissues.

However that is interesting. Seems like Ed is hinting Mike was quite instrumental in the direction of the show, hence pushing Edd out. Awks.
I guess Mike really wants to be the next Richard Rawlings.

The next Richard Rawlings?
Interesting comparison as he has just lost Aaron Kaufman after 13 years together, scuttlebut suggests he got fed up with RR taking all the plaudits and always wanting to make a silk purse out of a sows ear, without crediting AK.

Does anyone remember the WD episode where they worked on a TR6?
Brewer looked at and then test drove the car, and then approached the vendor, an old boy.
"How much are you wanting, £12k?"
The old boy replies in the affirmative.
"Well, I'll give you £8.5k" says lard boy.
"Ok" says the old boy without drawing breath.
Sorry, but that's not real, and the credibility of MB became a joke in my eyes.

Or the time they bought an Audi Quattro?
"Wow, you can feel the power shuffling forwards and backwards" squeals fat lad, in delight.
Er, no, you can't, Brewer, that model didn't have a Torsen diff, and so had a fixed torque-split iirc?
So all the bolly-cocks he puts out about 'I sold loads of these, back in the day' reinforces the fact he may have sold cars, but he knew, and knows 2/3rds of sod-all about them as cars.
Edd is better off away from The Pilsbury Dough Boy' and doing a show with someone who isnt like a kids party clown...

Has anyone in the history of the world said anything more dull? laugh

You can't blame Mike - he *IS* a wheeler dealer whose raison d'etre is to make money, hence using his name to publicise Mike Brewer Motors and trying to get as much profit out of WD as possible.

Edd, on the other hand likes to do things his own way e.g. the motorised sofa, repairing instead of replacing etc.

It has made me wonder of some of the product-placement stuff is genuine recommendations, or just money seeking e.g. Terraclean

I always thought Brewer's slight lack of automotive engineering knowledge was part of the show's appeal. I find it quite amusing when he pretends to know more than he actually does - albeit it's not enough to detract me from enjoying the show. Unlike Car S.O.S. which I can't stand. Far too much emotive bks and not enough car-talk.

ref the youtube post where Edd explains why he's leaving.
Well done to Edd for sticking to his principles and walking if he doesn't like the new direction/production values.
It's true life moves and and I think he's doing the right thing by leaving at the top of the game.

I always saw Edd China as the better of the pair on WD. Brewer I was indifferent to, and usually just skipped his scenes as you know the buying's all pre-planned, and the selling's just actors. It's awkward to watch, and I almost feel embarrassed for them.

Haven't watched it for ages now though. I liked it when it was down to Earth stuff, and affordable classics. When they start dicking around buying Lambos, I lose interest. Car S.O.S. was another I used to enjoy, but switched off and forgot about. Too much 'drama', too much emotion, too fake. The restorations are decent usually, but it's just a bit too 'meh' for me.

I think WD will be worse-off without Edd China, and I admire him for sticking to his guns. He could do what he does on Youtube or something, though he's probably missed the gravy-train when it comes to money. That said, he might think a bit like me, where if you're living your life and not in poverty/seriously struggling, and you're enjoying yourself (mostly) then why dick around chasing money? Money's the root of all evil.

Or he might have his finger in other pies hehe

I think were all missing how good anstead could actually be, but Edd was always epic and I hope he pops up on a new show, but somehow I doubt it sadly.

Ironically, the Lamborghini Urraco episode was one of the best episodes they ever did, in my opinion. Especially when they got the tuning specialist to come out and balance the carbs.
Mike buying it was even interesting, as it was so close to the wall that it had to be teased out on dollies.

Fair enough the Urraco was a good one, I'd forgotten that's what it was. But my point about more exotic stuff is where my interest began to wain.

Oh dear internet has not liked the news

http://jalopnik.com/wheeler-dealers-edd-china-asks...

Also from Edd's statement 'that he is not his favourite person at the moment' he was kind of hoping Mike would leave too or be sticking up for him....

I also agree that the exotic cars were the more interesting episodes.

I got to meet Ed back in the early days of wheeler dealers when they were settling a BMW e24
I was working for BMW at the time and supplied FOC genuine parts
He then did a piece to camera about the benefits o fm genuine parts using the exhaust we supplied . They didn't get paid but did get some fre e parts

I have not watched any WD since this USA thing, its boring.

However the old episodes are great, however I start 15 min in and also skip the last 5 - 10 mins...

I also started to lose interest when they made 5 grand on every car. In the early days is was 200 here 300 there. Plenty of cars where they made 10k+ and even 20-30k (Lambo and Vette?) if I remember correctly. After that it started to go down hill.

Logical but you would have missed one of the greatest WD moments when Mike buys a 914 Porsche from a tight fisted farmer, spends bucket loads of man hours restoring it only for the tight fisted farmer to buy it back, saving himself an enormous amount of cash.
