In most studies money helps happiness until about £50k/yr, then doesn't move afterwards. I'd guess Edd is a bit beyond £50k.

In this case statistics are true - until about 50k money buy you happiness, then until about 200k money buy you a nice sports car, until about 1mil they buy you a nice apartment in London, then about 5mil they buy you a nice house in Hampstead, then until about 10mil they buy your child a nice safety net so that it doesn't have to worry about the future (ask Shmee), then until about 20mil they buy you enough leverage to invest in real estate market so that you don't have to worry about your future, then until about 50 mil they buy you enough to afford a house in the Bishops Avenue plus an apartment in Miami, then until about 100 mil they buy you enough to afford a boat and a plane to compliment your previous achievements and then tell me you know anyone who has everything I just mentioned and isn't smiling.

Coming back to real world. No wonder majority of society live month to month with no savings exposed to any major economic mishap if their brains can't compute that 50k in 2017 is poverty especially in London and surrounding areas and that the only way to protect their families from getting fked is by seeking "fame and fortune".
