The latest series of WD with Elvis as mechanic has not aired here yet so I haven't seen it, but I have not heard very many negatives about it so far. Certainly over the last 3 or 4 years with Ant in California, the production went far off track for whatever reasons and those shows just were not as good as many of the ones from the past. I think we as viewers tend to blame those on-camera when things aren't right with a show but it is usually the producers fault, and I think that is true in the case of recent seasons of WD.

Both Paul and Edd still seem unable to let the WD experience go.
Personally, I don’t think it’s a case of Edd not being able to let go, it’s more a case of everyone else not letting go. Any q&a he does the WD questions don’t take long to come up so there’s a certain element of giving people what they want by still referring to it.

I enjoyed the latest episode, Paul and Edd clearly get on well so hopefully there will be more of the two of them in future episodes.

Ant annoyed me as he was quite frenetic. It annoyed me immensely that he'd zoom in, then slow down, then speed up then slow down. It just stressed and irritated me.

Elvis is much more fluid and laid back, and I like him. I just wish he wouldn't keep name-dropping F1 so much. We know, Elvis.

Well, Edd was the one who asked Paul about it, so there was not anyone else to cause it to be asked. It seemed clearly like it was set up beforehand.

I'm sure Paul will be seen with Edd going forward. I would advise him to get his appearance fee in cash though. cool

Sorry if this has already been said.

I have watched the youtube videos of why Edd china left wheeler Dealers, both Edd's version and Mike Brewer's version, and I found it more than a little interesting that while Edd said how nice, and good and hard working everyone was, Mike Brewer couldn't resist dropping a couple of barbed remarks "he thought he was bigger than the show", and "he was shouting at various members of the crew".

One has to ask why, if Edd's version is such an alleged fabrication, Mike hasn't sued him for libel, given that Edd has published his version of events in a book.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if MB perused these pages and flagged the comments up personally.

I'm amazed he has any time for work with the amount of time he spends on social media. He seems like the easiest person in the world to trigger judging by his comments and if you're MB you provide plenty of ammunition.

I met Edd earlier this year and spent part of the evening chatting with him and his wife Imogen. Conversation was wide and varied. The only car related bits mentioned was by me in how much he’d cost me in tools over the years from being inspired by him to have a go myself.

As expected a really nice, engaging guy, who comes across exactly as you see on TV.

I miss him on WD, although the show’s probably had its day now.

You hire companies to deal with all that. No one in their right mind wants to waste a moment of their life engaging in social media unless that is their business. You have to be seen to be engaging with the hoi poloi and you need to have the insane posts of the most mental hoi poloi removed as well as you whole online persona managed so you have a company that does this for you.

Most people who want to be on TV/famous etc are raving lunatics/deeply troubled/insecure/unpleasant/riddled with skeletons from past desperate acts to be famous or just abnormally needy and self centred etc etc and their stage persona rarely reflects reality so hiring teams to add a human overlay and to manage what is said etc is fairly essential.

Someone needs to tell MB this as his twitter responses over the years haven’t won him many fans.

This. It's actually funny seeing him tying himself in knots personally replying to almost every scathing or negative comment on his Facebook page, he has a seriously fragile ego.

My personal opinion of him is he is a , nothing like his 'geezer' online/TV persona meanwhile Edd based on his book plus a few other videos notably his interview with Jonny Smith comes across like a petrol head.

Wheeler dealers has had it day, I've watched every one with Ant and they are absolute bilge. Annoying they now have restored probably my favourite car (5GTT) but Ill wait till it's on quest in a few years...

Under most circumstances you would be correct, but as sandman77 and Vickers_VC10 say, Mike has a history of having a very hands-on personal approach to social media.

Just watched Mike Brewer work hard to sell a 308GT4 for £13.5k in 2009. Astonishing now.

A link to a 2-year old article about how much the cars from the first series then went up in value.

I never watch it now and used to tune in all the time, maybe it's a age thing but now if it's on I just switch back before the end to see the finished car or skip on catch up. Just became really annoying when they changed everything for the US audience, the fake buddy thing with Ant really got on my tits.

Even now Mike still get a torrent of abuse on Facebook and he responds to most of the mild ones and deletes the negative ones. How many people do that, he takes it far too personally, he needs to just ignore it.

If I ever got famous I think my management team would have to actively insulate me from social media for my mental well-being. It's bad enough the abuse that I get on NP&E threads to do with transgender issues, and I'm sure that's relatively mild.

Don't know why Mike does it. It's not healthy

I don't venture into NP&E often so I had a little look. Christ. Reminded me why I don't venture in there very often.

The most interesting bits of WD to me were always the Edd China bits. He knows what he's on about and has an engaging and lucid way of explaining things. I'd far rather watch somebody who knows what he's doing tear down a gearbox than a "character" doing a "deal".
