I'm quietly confident (enough to have booked a 9pm double bill on Wednesday and then Sunday morning tickets to see it again with family).

a) The trailer gave almost nothing away, almost nothing has leaked and I've avoided the additional TV spots, so I'm going in pretty much as blind as it's possible to be with a big movie, which is always nice.

b) Very little chatter from production, no conflict, smooth filming, and the director has been entrusted to oversee the next trilogy, so the powers that be are obviously very happy with the finished article. And that's even with what I imagine was some serious tinkering to change the course of the trilogy after Fisher's death.

I’ve read a few spoiler free reviews and it’s all pretty good.

I'm seeing mostly 4 out 5, which seems pretty good considering they are all saying it's a divisive film.

I'll know for myself by this time tomorrow. bounce

Seems mostly positive in what I've seen (spoiler free) the only criticism I saw was that it follows a similar arc to Empire.

Plus apparently about 20 minutes too long & sagging in the middle section.

Unfortunately I was told a spoiler yesterday. (Which I hope is not true).

I mentioned I was going to see it on Thursday and the guy just blurted out "you do know......"

oh well hopefully it was b.s. anyway.

I had this pegged already tbh, The Force Awakens is A New Hope and this one is Empire. Disney aren't a company to take big risks. I just hope there is enough new stuff to not make it feel like a note for note re-tread which was my one big criticism of the first one.

I was at the Premiere last night. Some thoughts:

- way more nudity than expected
- smart idea to do it all as a rap
- Charlie Sheen totally holds his own
- Adam Driver's love ballad felt awkward
- Smash Mouth's "All Star" was a bold end-credits choice

I thought the wookie sex scene pushed it too far.

The twist that Luke was in hiding because Yoda had molested him on Dagobah was not that surprising to be honest, the dirty wee green bd.

Calling the police droid U-TR3-PO was probably beyond the yanks though.

So what are people’s thoughts?

Mine are mixed. It had some great moments, it also had some really poor moments. I thought the pacing was odd and it didn’t seem to hang together very well.

Needs a second viewing for sure.

I agree. Needs a second viewing. Some moments where I really got lost in the battles, edge of seat stuff... but then, as you say the pace brought me back in the room and I felt they were trying too hard at the humour side.

Not as good as Rogue One but I still enjoyed it.
