Indeed. I wonder if they were too dark for Disney to be associated with.
It would be great one day if all of the original story plans were released. I know it may not happen as Disney have spent a lot of money buying them. However, one day down the line when the series has finished, it would be interesting to see how they were going to pan out.
Disney won't let the series finish, they'll milk it until it's dead. Travesty. It would be great one day if all of the original story plans were released. While I enjoyed FA, RO and this trailer looks decent I am a bit peeved that they basically seem to be doing a soft reboot of the original trilogy rather then doing something new. However if you'd just paid 5 squajillion dollars to rent the franchise license for a few years, I think you'd probably be loath to take too many risks too.
I can forgive the main ones their issues, I expect the risks to be taken in the spin-offs, which we have already seen.
The issue I have with SPin-offs is that they are using a time which we love, the golden time of Luke et al. They are gonna take the immense goodwill/love of a character like Han and fk about with him, he was a product of his time and Lucas childhood, not faceless Disney execs chasing figures.
Much better to choose another time altogether.

The trailer seems to be suggesting Rey may skirt on the edge of the dark side (much how Luke did). Wouldn't it be a turn up for the books if Rey turned out to be the villain afterall and Kylo actually turned back to the light to defeat her - earning redemption (or Rey and Kylo are both evil and Finn turns out to be the last Jedi and defeats them both). I doubt Disney would be brave enough to do that though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgBH_UoTu_U
I don't think the movie industry (or world) is quite ready for a female villain being defeated by a male hero.

I went for the standard midnight showing as its an hours drive each way to nearest big cinema. Always seen every SW film at midnight since episode 1 (special editions was with my folks as i was 15 and couldn't get into town by bus as we lived in sticks).
Trailer was good, had some nice scenes and stuff i wanted to see like space ships.
A lot of juxtaposed scenes hinting they are trying to play us a bit.

Well it's already going to happen in Thor later this year. That has a female villain.I don't think the movie industry (or world) is quite ready for a female villain being defeated by a male hero.

Will she be defeated by the male hero though - or will the fatal blow be dealt by a female hero (Tess Thompson's character perhaps) - that is the way 'female villain' movies usually go.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
