Well it's already going to happen in Thor later this year. That has a female villain.
Will she be defeated by the male hero though - or will the fatal blow be dealt by a female hero (Tess Thompson's character perhaps) - that is the way 'female villain' movies usually go.
OK then; the new blade runner movie.

Erm, maybe preface the spoiler with the movie you're spoiling? It's not unreasonable to expect to not have Bladerunner 2049 spoiled in a thread about Star Wars

When I posted the YouTube link above earlier on this morning I deliberately chose the UK site's trailer simply because PH is UK centric.
It appears that there are very slight variations of the trailer that are country/area specific. So far it seems like only the title cards are different with regards to the wording of the release dates. December/Christmas etc.

I've not studied the various trailers back to back to see if there's a split second clip added to another country's release. Any volunteers?

Tbh this trailer has wet my appetite but I probably won't watch any more. Star Wars trailers are usually better than most but even they give away far too many spoilers and wow moments for my liking. It's only 2 months away, I can wait.

I enjoyed the trailer also, but won't watch anymore. I made the error of reading far too much before the Force Awakens, expecting to read a few things about the filming etc, I inadvertently read a massive spoiler, which I regretted immediately, spent the whole movie waiting for it to happen!

I just booked my tickets for the Friday 16th at Disney Springs, tried to get tickets for opening day, but they were all sold out, I'll still head down though on opening evening, in case they make a big deal of it.

It is a fair comment - people would naturally expect a starwars spoiler behind the spoiler tag in a starwars themed thread and might click it because they aren't that bothered about starwars spoilers.

They may not however want to read a spoiler about blade runner (as I didn't - hence why I have largely avoided the blade runner thread - so thanks for that rolleyes)

So spoilers for unreleased films are ok, but not for ones that have already been released?

Seems like some people just want to find things to moan about.

Sorry but I can sort of see where they are coming from. I haven't had the time to watch the new Blade Runner yet but I definitely want to. The previous spoilered bits in the thread where hypothetical discussions and not really spoilers. What I didn't expect to see was a rather major spoiler about Blade Runner in a Star Wars thread.

There have been films where a female villain has been killed by a male hero.

I have deleted the post in question and asked the moderators to remove it. not sure what more I can do. If people want to get cross about that then go for it.

Happy to read this thread for now whilst things are generally unknown, but wouldn’t have dreamed of visiting the Bladerunner thread until I’ve seen it. ffs.

The point you raised about Thor is hardly a spoiler. Unless you live in a cave and have avoided all trailers, posters, images etc - you are bound to know that one of the main protagonists is female (ironically if that is considered a spoiler - it was you you who revealed it biggrin).

My counter to your post on the other hand was pure speculation.

Revealing a potentially crucial plot point about a movie that hasn't even been out a week is rather different.

I have to admit, TFA hasn't been as re-watchable as the original ANH, I think this is because it is clearly a remake, so I am looking forward to watching TLJ with a certain amount of dread (I have watched Ep5 more than any other film over the years, I think). It will look fantastic, but I hope they're done with re-hashing the old Star Wars films.

Have booked my tickets, though, £5 for two for the first screening, 00:01 on Thu 14 Dec.

But that's such a low level of expectation.
Are the writers really incapable of going off on a new tangent, creating new storylines, rather than a different crew & cast essentially remaking the OT?
I'm disappointed tbh.

I'm in two minds, on the one hand it's Star Wars and the TFA was actually pretty good. OK still not reaching the heights of the original trilogy but light years better than the prequels. However I was a tad disappointed that the story was basically a retread of ANH and I didn't think the villains were a patch on the ones in the OT. Darth Vs whiny emo is no contest and Snope Vs the Emperor, same again I'm afraid.

However the lead was actually pretty interesting and had tonnes of charisma plus it had the characters we know and love. I do think Han Solo's story arc was mishandled a bit but on the whole TFA was a positive experience.

However for number 8 I want them to take it in a slightly different direction and if it is just a re-tread of Empire I'll be disappointed. Rumors do seem to speculate that we will be in for a surprise. I'm going to go for a wild guess and say Rey will join the dark side which would make for an interesting twist to say the least.

Oh and if we don't see a bit of Luke Skywalker kicking arse action, much like Yoda did in the prequels, I'll be disappointed. smile
