Mercer stabbed the perp of another senseless crime in which the victim died.

One assumes that he was tried & convicted of this crime also but I couldn't find anything on it.

There are also reports that he wants to sue the programme makers because they portrayed him in a bad light.

No problem. I often think a lot of Channel 5's output can be overlooked (they don't help themselves with some of it) I only found out about this when Channel flicking.
