So nearly 4 times the limit, smashes into 6 cars and yet they say at the end of the program he is still under investigation, to be honest it did surprise me that so many last night were under investigation, they did not seem to have many convictions.
Said the same to the wife, but then thinking about it - the drink drive is a slam dunk but maybe looking at dash cam footage and taking witness statements to push for dangerous driving and a jail sentence, rather than just the driving ban

I assume that's because it's going out on TV before the cases have gone to court. They aren't getting off with that.

Hopefully it's court delays to blame and they are yet to be sentenced rather than than them dealing out pathetic sentences.

The fact it takes over a year for even slam dunk drink driving cases means the drivers can still drive until they are sentenced.

You don't get to the stage you are slurring your words without realising you are under the influence.
Kid seemed adamant and some mixers don't taste that alcoholic so they could be unwittingly drinking though considering the state of his car I doubt his friends would be paying the extra for adding alcohol to his drinks.

A stupid amount of Police cars (10) were after the moped who was driving around 20mph when he came off at the roundabout.

You can unwilling drink alcohol without realising. However once the affects of alcohol kick in then you would know. He was slurring his words, looked and acted drunk. The police officer could smell the drink too.

Most of the drink drivers they stop claim they haven't drunk or just had a couple of pints. biglaugh

The camera car chasing the bike was strange. It looked as if they were crawling along, but they were saying the speeds were 55-60mph.

I thought the 'not had a drink' lad had been spiked as well. He wasn't that old, a bit green and probably not that good at lying. Seemed like he genuinely believed it.
I did wonder when it said at the end investigations were ongoing if that is what he was claiming.

For most of the bike chase I was muttering 'just knock the ********'s off' under my breath.

I'd like to see an update on them. Maybe a round up at the end of the current series, or at the end of the next one so we know what happened. Hearing still under investigation all the time is brong. It happens about 75 - 90% of the time.

Was the officer with the beard driving the undercover BMW in training or something? His sergeant told him when to go when they were looking for the silver Golf, and then at the roundabout when the bloke on the stolen bike had come off he pointed right, like the dude driving couldn't see the mass of blue lights from the eight police cars!!

He kept adding months on. Not had a drink in four months, then five, then six. No doubt he was drinking but thought that if it was in a lemonade he'd get away with it.

Yes, could have tapped them off of the bike (I think they're allowed to do that?) That one seemed to go on forever.

Not just me then. Apparently I would make a terrible police officer as I have no filter or patience

I think I would be just what is needed wink

Before any Bib jump on that, I'm a grumpy, overweight 48 year old with no chance of ever joining and appreciate the job you do. I don't know better, haven't a clue and appreciate that you're hamstrung by the yoghurt- weavers

Same.
I don't have the patience to deal with idiots and I doth my cap at Bib because I wouldn't last a week. I certainly couldn't find it in me to be 'professional' whilst dealing with a 6 car pile up caused by someone 3 times over.

Also disclaimer, short, grumpy 49 year old female with no intentions of joining the police force unless I can be a detective like Cagney & Lacey biggrin

I've come across my fair share of drink drivers when I'm first on scene at RTCs, I have to bite my tongue and remain civil waiting for the police to arrive, when all I want to do how tell them how bloody stupid they've been and they could have caused carnage at motorway speeds!

Had the Golf driver pissed himself as well as the Kia driver?

The camera footage of chasing the bike was annoying. It looked as if they were going 5mph and not 55mph.
I think the commentary and video didnt match up. He was passing those white lines at walkng speed.

I think I said it earlier in the thread, however if you know North Yorkshire the editing of some of it is clearly at odds with the true chronology of some of the events. So wouldn’t surprise me that much that it didn’t all match up perfectly.

Me too. I wouldn't last 5 minutes as I'd want to launch into the full Jack Regan or Gene Hunt on these arrogant gobby scrotes.

I think it has always been that way, I remember in 2008/9 Traffic Cops was filmed in my home town and even then nothing ever married up with what was being said and what was being shown.

Another channel I watch is called “Cop Car Workshop”, it’s on sky 111 Dave, daily at 1300 (1 pm).

Mainly how they outfit their cars and there is an awful lot of tech goes into them, how they repair them and a couple of chases.

One the other week was top of the range beema, the guys in the workshop spend around 70 hours outfitting it with all the electronic gizmos at a cost of ten grand, a few weeks later it was involved in a chase, involved in an accident and was a total write off.

This rings a bell. Is it Cheshire Police?
I'm in that rough area so between that and the Motorway one I'm always recognising places.

Isn't it an old one, where they're fixing Sierras and Rovers?

As for timelines, I locked a guy up for drink driving back in August and it only just got to magistrates court on Monday, and that was quite fast for Manchester (GMP).
We nearly lost the case due to CPS dropping a clanger with the case and the defence lawyer being pretty hot and pulling at all sorts of threads to undermine the case. CPS had us getting a custody officer to write a statement while we were waiting for court to confirm they were trained on the intoximeter.
