I'd watched a repeat from series 8 earlier on (Iain Stirling, Joe Thomas, Lou Sanders, Paul Sinha and Sian Gibson) and found that one more entertaining even though it's probably the 5th time I've watched it.
Thursday nights episode actually had the same controversial tactic used in a task that Lou Sanders used in a task in that series. Mae Martin for the bouncy ball drum task, put the bouncy ball on string which is the same as what Lou did during a task she did where she had to bounce a ball as many times as possible before it lands in a bucket/bin. During the show Frankie was adamant it wasn't legit and having listened to half of the podcast he's clearly not changed his opinion.
.... and yeah, I watch too much of this programme.

It's missing the one or two contestants that add a spark. None of this lot are bad but it needs somebody hyper competitive and somebody bonkers to really kick it off.
I think Kiell Smith-Bynoe has that streak in him but he lets go far too quickly. What you need is a James Acaster or an Ed Gamble .. someone who bears a grudge bobbo89 said:

I agree with Frankie btw.

I tend to think that some of Greg's controversial decisions are simply to create more contentious content to spice it up. It's unfortunate if he picks you as the recurring "and of course one point goes to..." contestant. Kiell gets that simply because of his reaction to the odd decisions. Yet it adds to the humour I guess.
I agree with Frankie btw.
It’s pretty obvious from previous seasons that they show the tasks in an order so it seems like one person is doing well, or someone is getting in the neck. We know they don’t use all the tasks they film as well. I agree with Frankie btw.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Kiell has a good run coming.

Yeah I didn't get that either.....Team task though, that was proper taskmaster and was properly good, especially Frankie and Ivo's attempt!

Ivo and Frankie missed a great sabotage opportunity. They should gave been unpacking their items into the trolley at the same time to confuse the counters.
You could tell that Ivo twigged that towards the very end when he shook himself so that their stuff dropped on the floor along with the other teams. Also, Ivo was robbed in the task where a pretended to mummify himself, that was genius and he should have won!

Agreed. It feels a bit like the scoring is engineered in this season. What was that about if the team of three win the final task they get double points? What was the point of that? Win or don't win. Unless you're trying to massage the overall series scores.Doofus said:

Unless you're trying to massage the overall series scores.Anyway, surely the scoring is always engineered to a degree? All the tasks are filmed ahead of the studio portions, so the producers will be able to pick and choose which tasks are grouped together to get a particular result in a show, and they don't use all of the task they film. It's only Greg's scoring system and the opening and final tasks that are random from that point of view.
Same as the tie breaker tasks. They've said before that they always film several of them in case they need them, so you know that when they show one of them they are effectively selecting who they want to win because they already know who won which tie break tasks.

That double points in the studio task was outrageous imo. Almost the equivalent of the shambles in season 2 where on one studio task where the task score to determine who won the task was converted straight into series points which effectively handed the series win to Katherine Ryan. Maybe they know something that will pan out differently as the series proceeds but that appears to have screwed Frankie and Ivo.
Also agree Ivo robbed on the faking it task where he produced a mummy.

Oh, I understood it, just didn't get why they bothered showing it as I don't think it really worked or added anything. They had to show outtake's of Kiell for it to be of any worth.... Imaginary friend task last night was a bit weird, golden shoe one was standard TM stuff and I actually quite liked the egg task even though it got slated in the studio. Studio task was good too although I think they could have put the chairs closer together to generate a bit more argy bargy.
I still think they've got the line-up a little bit wrong this series, Frankie and Ivo work but Jenny, Kiell and Mae are all falling a bit flat. Not sure whether it's the tasks that aren't bringing out the best of them or whether it's just a lack of chemistry.
Or.... watched a few episodes from the previous series the other day and maybe that's just too tough an act to follow, peak TM that was!
