Didn't really grab me I have to say, why are they still using machine guns in space? I'd have thought they would have innovated in that time.

Fairly sure they're still using torpedoes in some sci fi programmes...;)

Given Patrick Stewart has indicated some involvement in Discovery perhaps the Space and Time could involve Enterprise-E???
Confirmed that Patrick Stewart’s new Star Trek series is not connected to Discovery.

I doubt we’ll see the “Big E” again, it’s a bit old hat! As in it looks very 1990’s.
I could understand the "D" not being wanted. Galaxy class ships looked unbalanced but the whizzy Sovereign class??

I'm late to the party with S1 as I tried a while back but just couldn't gel with it but once I've got past the first 2/3 episodes, I'm hooked - I'm up to episode 7 and I intend to binge it over the next 2 nights...

I don't get the pizza cutter design of Discovery though - What purpose does the spinning disc really achieve?

Looks cool. Also like the way the ship kind of lands in its next point after a jump, like drops into it rather than nose first.

I always thought it looked bloated and ungainly and much preferred the TNG Enterprise!

Full spread being about 3 torpedoes. I always wondered why in a battle to the death, they'd only fire a few torpedoes and a couple of phaser shots. What do they charge by the lazer bolt in the future?

Just keep shooting until the enemy are nothing but atoms!

read I suppose the capacitors only hold enough energy for a few phaser bursts and then they have to wait for them to recharge. Similarly the torpedo launchers must hold a set number before they need reloading. They should really work on a better reloading system....

problem with that is you'd potentially end up with an HMS Hood situation

Somehow I managed to get through 8 minutes of that bks, couldn’t stomach the full 24 minutes. Guy comes across as an upset supergeek who just wants to deride things to sell his YouTube channel.

On the contrary - all becomes pretty clear on how it's all interwoven by the end. What a complete st storm ST has become. Only corporates would really think they have any chance at all of replacing cannon in the long run with something else if they keep churning out enough ST series.

PatStew must have been offered major wonga to get involved in this at all. Hearing his new series won't be a continuation of what he's done before in ST TNG just puts the nail in the coffin for me. Tired of reboots and alternative versions. Ultimately its all because of licensing, not creative decisions. Crap.

Really? I thought it was well balanced and not at all one-sided.

Perhaps it is you who are allowing your own super-geekiness and bias to cloud your opinion? Just a thought.

Nonsense, I just don’t really care that much about canon, I just want to see a good TV series. I really enjoyed Discovery and didn’t really give a crap where it fit in to various universes etc.

I think the point is that not as many as first hoped enjoyed Discovery as you say you did, and when some point that out, you feel hurt for some reason.

I don't lose any sleep about it either, I don't care. I do own all the Star Treks, including the three new movies, except the fifth movie and the latest Discovery series, which was a strictly watch once only affair for me. If you love it though, that is great.
