Star Trek: Discovery - New series on Netflix
Discussion
Watched the first two and was not taken by it, IMO they are trying (and failing badly) to create suspense and cliff hangers.
It just came across as a bit st!
We'll see where it goes for a couple after this but I think I'm probably going to not bother for long..
Enjoying The Orville though.

I like the new Star Trek films.
Me too, and I'm liking the series so far. That includes the new-look Klingons speaking something other than English for the most part. RemaL said:

So are we It’s got a real Next Gen feel to it, only with modern effects.much more manoeuvrable than anything in trek though
And it still feels very TNG to me which suits me just fine

Dull cliched plot.
Unlikable characters with no chemistry.
Shocking production values - all lens flare and rotating cameras.
Bludgeoned political correctness.
It has turned Star Trek in to just another dark grim Sci-fi shoot-em-up.
I'm all for change, but this was just poor.

Wish the klingons would hurry up and say what they want to say. No wonder there was war, the Universe gave up waiting for them.
Other than that, I like it. Plot holes aside but what the hell.
Indeed. Anyone would think that they're not actually fluent in Klingon and were reading their gibberish from cue cardsOther than that, I like it. Plot holes aside but what the hell.

Hearing Klingon might give some geeky Trekkie fans a semi but it's hard to follow and as you say the dialogue sounds too long and stilted. In the interests of better flow they should just drop it. Yes it's less "authentic" but we are watching a TV show so I'd prefer to watch\hear the actors rather than reading small text at the bottom of the screen while the actors try to painfully mangle their way through the Klingon language.)1) I LOOOOOOOOVE it
(2) Michelle Yeoh is in it. In other words: SUPER YAY.
(3) See 1.

Overall, I thought it was good. I like the premise and feel that the season will become more interesting when they start to focus on the secondary characters more.
I'm not quite sure why people are claiming political correctness? Perhaps I'm just some libtard cuck that sees nothing wrong in characters being black/Asian/female/pacifist...
