Surely as they are in the future now they can just log onto the first computer they come across and, looking on the futures equivalent of wiki, just see how all of this plays/played out....

Bit more to it than that but that's a part of it, yup. He does a good job

you'd think

you'd also think so far in the future , they would have better clothes, wont need to go to a bar to buy drinks in glass bottles sitting on chairs and tables - wouldnt fight hand to hand etc..... but i guess it would take far too much thought and instead they want "mad max" type............

EDIT:

and why are future peeps all crying and cut up over starfleet and waiting for this amazing organisation to "return" anda re in awe of Starfleet Officers - this is the same starfleet that genocided the Romulans and outlawed AI in PICARD as well as get infiltrated by a terrorist organisation that nobody noticed the QalEsh of what every it was called, and in TNG also got infiltrated by some weird small creaturess that make you eat worms and stick out the back of your neck , lets also not forget about their handling of the Cardassian Empire / Bajorans / Marquee etc etc, , has a special section 53 (?) to do its dirty work etc etc - when they are keen to write Star Trek like the problems of present day especially in Picard it takes the shine of what Starfleet represents - so its a bit like us in a 1000 years wanting the EU to come back because it was the saviour of all the galaxy...........

Episode 2 was enjoyable.

Previously when hero ships are crashed, they don't just fly off again after plugging a few wires back in!

When the TNG Enterprise crashed in Generations it was 100 years newer with presumably better technology, and it was considered scrapped, certainly wouldn't take off https://youtu.be/xx_1UIWI_tY

And I don't think Voyager was going anywhere either!

I've just turned off episode 2 after about 20 minutes - I found it slow, difficult to be interested in and hard to engage with. The fight scene at the bar just looked shonky too.

Maybe it's just me? I will go back to it later and try again, but I am slowly losing interest...

To be fair, at least half of it had already blown up in space. Would have thought CAT C as a minimum.

Also to be fair, every time the ice made it creak as it supposedly crushed it a little bit more, I did wonder about structural integrity...

The ship trying to take off again, looked more like someone was doing a puppet on a string

I got to the end, it was a real scene setting episode. Not much happened at all

I'm liking Georgiou (so) more and more though

Given Saru (I think) said that yes he knew the Discovery wasn't designed to take off, giving it "full power" seems a bit irresponsible. If its not designed to take off, how could it?!

Gave in and watched it last night... then the second episode...enjoyed it a lot biggrin

It’s much improved over the previous two series although I still think it’d be better as perhaps a Mass Effect linked series rather than Star Trek due to the vibe it gives off, it’d also work better for following a central character too. But yes, much improved and dare I say I’m looking forward to Fridays? hehe

Just caught up and really enjoyed it.

Anyone still bhing about Burnham needs to move on and watch something else. My new favourite character is definitely Reno the female engineer, she had all the best lines in ep 2.

It is a loony tunes cartoon version of startrek, made in live action.

Seem to recall in one of the Voyager episodes it landed on a planet and took off again, amazing.

Voyager has landing struts specifically for landing - its was revolutionary for that ship

2/3 of the way through this week's epi and am loving it so far. Even more surprising I've enjoyed Burnham this time too

Another good episode and a very "Trek" dénouement.

I really love this series - it's a fresh approach to Star Trek and Burnham is growing on me.
