Storyline is also underwhelming for the playground it has at its disposal, the far future.

I nearly turned it off half way through tonights episode for the first time ever with a trek episode.

2/10 at best for me and I’ve had a drink so am feeling generous.
A fair score, and you call out the problem too.

Viewers: "Hey, that's a good plot, nice one, throw them in the future, ditch all the 'doesn't fit with the other series' baggage, go wild with the tech and the sets. Let's have, oh I dunno, how about mutant goldfish that have taken over an asteroid and cruise round sucking peoples brains out by telepathy, or something ?"

Writers: "You'll like this. They go swimming, then do some quilting!"

Dullest one yet.

You forgot, "The crew are a bit upset to be in the future so they all need some counselling and a cuddle"

Riveting stuff indeed.

I switched off at the trill matrix bit. Just painful to watch, and this is from a DS9 fan!

Had a nice sleep for most of it. Not the best. Unfortunately the Mandalorian wasn’t much better.

It's been all over Star Treks various social media. Yes, great. Don't need to make a big deal about it, we get it.

I thought it was a very NGST episode.

Possibly a sign of the confidence the producers have about the franchise, that a less dramatic episode that is more about developing characters and setting is fine.

Sorry, what?

Has it been done before on here?

I'm so glad YOU "get it" but who's this "we" you appear to have elected yourself spokesman for?

And what is it you're "getting" exactly?

I think the franchise will die very quickly with more of that.

They're already filming season 4 (saw some post about the chap who plays Saru, last week), so it won't be dying just yet.

So funny that people slagged off Disco for being ‘not Trek enough’ and when they do an episode that is pure Next Generation, people still complain about it rofl

Ultimately a character driven story depends on whether you feel anything for the characters or not. Judging from comments, many actually just don't, so not really a surprise. The only character I like in this season is Saru and perhaps the female gobby engineer. If everyone else could stop having a little cry every 5 minutes it would speed things along enormously.

Watched it this morning and found it quite moving in parts and enjoyed it on the whole. Trek has always had "quieter" episodes and it is the better for it.

Logged on here to enjoy the rantings of those who watch it to get wound up. Not disappointed here either biggrin

One note for those who can't get on with Ms Burnham, she is the central character in this series (the "Kirk" if you will) she is not going to get killed off, sidelined or written out. Just saying.

I actually enjoyed this episode more than I expected. The whole Trill memories thing was pretty moving. The stress stuff among the Bridge crew was a bit clumsy but I suppose it was the secondary story. Pilot lady's bizarre haiku was a bit freaky to say the least. Those characters still suffer a bit from being 2 dimensional.

Not a patch on “DS9 The Visitor” which always hits me in the feels, but a good effort smile
