This fiasco will probably mean there will be no season 5.
To quote one of the kinder reviews.
"This is not Star Trek, this is Grey's Anatomy in space."
S5 is in pre-production. But apparently is going to be the last one.

Here in the US it's viewer numbers (1.7 million) were less than reruns of the Masked Singer and Filthy Rich.
They may cancel and invest all that money in a show that people might actually watch, not more of the same garbage as season 4.

I can't believe it lasted beyond 3 seasons, unless the woke were desperate to force some kind of point, shame is that by doing this, the budget used could have gone to something else.

Those viewer numbers are pretty shocking for a country the size of the US. I can't understand why it got renewed again, given it's had the most negativity of any ST series I can remember.

Could that low figure be explained by the fact that it's now only streaming on paramount+ in the USA so inertia means that people simply CBA to shell out for it just to watch Discovery?

User error or computer say "no, fk off"?

I've got an Amazon box and have downloaded and installed Pluto TV, it works.

But, I have absolutely no idea how to watch Discovery on it? It seems to be like old fashioned live TV where you need to be sat in front of the box at a particular time to watch a particular show.

Is there a way of watching STD on demand on Pluto?

I desperately want to see this latest series along with all the crying.

It's not shown on-demand on Pluto.tv
During normal broadcasting, each new episode was streamed live on Friday/Saturday/Sunday night at 9pm. No pausing, rewinding etc, just TV watching the old fashioned way. But it was free, so that was the price you paid in exchange.

Now that season 4 has officially ended, they're being shown back to back on Pluto channel 28. Still only live streamed but as you can watch pluto.tv on a web browser, you can use a screen recorder like OBS Studio to "record" on your PC if you wish.

I suspect that My Little Pony would be a more riveting show than STD - certainly preferred The Clangers!

"Ratings aren't important, it's all about getting 'The Message' (TM) out there" ... some Woke TV executive.

It's amusing to me how often "woke" is used as a criticism of Discovery.

The entire concept and ethos of the federation is "woke" by any reasonable definition. So every series of Star Trek has been woke by the standards of the time.

Also I never understood "woke" as a supposed insult.

I think it's used mostly by those 'fans' who think that every Star Trek franchise should be "wagon train in space" and that anything that doesn't follow that formula is not really Star Trek. They haven't worked out that this show is not made for them, but is for a newer younger untapped audience of sci-fi fans.

The general point is that ST HAS always been "woke" for the most part - everyone equal etc etc. That has been understood since the 60s. Many ST fans therefore feel laying that message on with a trowel in modern times isn't actually needed - just keep on telling the stories. But with STD the story often stops for the woke narrative being repeated loudly just so the viewer remembers how important the message is - this has happened many times over the 4 seasons.

When a message gets promoted ahead of the story, then you're on dodgy ground.

Otherwise...it's just the crying and emotional crap that has to be there all the time. Something bad happens - everyone looks pained or about to top themselves. Something good happens, and everyone stands around smiling at each other for 30 seconds. Which is...a bit creepy. Maybe 20 and 30 somethings behave like that nowadays, I don't know.
