But you noticed it was only 40 seconds?
I went back and checked after I saw the comment.

It was 37 seconds if you want to be all Vulcan about it.
Still too long. Well known fact that everyone in the universe speaks English. They only speak their language for a minute or two when first encountered then they get it and we are all happy that they can speak our lingo.

- The spartan ship. Every HQ now has nice break out areas, plants, pictures etc etc. Are we supposed to believe that a science vessel in 400 years time on which people might spend years would be so clinical? Single beds with no covers on which you lie down fully clothed? Really?
Show me a Naval vessel or an Antartic scientific research station that does. That's all resource / material that has to be got on the ship and then maintained.

- Tilly snoring. Oh come on that's practically curable now, let alone in 400 years time.
Only with significiant surgical intervention which does not guarantee a cure - as I know to my cost. Also she's a character who believes her own defects too much, which is holding her back from Starfleet officer selection. Part of the intersting character arc will be Michael's rehabilitation through her work with Tilly. The snoring was one of the first defects we were introduced to.

- in ten years time most cars will be autonomous but not a shuttle craft 400 years into the future?
1. They were flying into a highly radioactive nebulla that the main ship's sensors couldn't penetrate, why would an autonomous shuttle craft be able to self pilot in that environment?

2. Lawmakers and Engineers are already saying Autonomous cars will need to have a human "in command" to take legal responsibility in the event of a crash, I can easily see that that won't have changed in 400 years

I know I know it's just a TV series but I just find that lazy writing. Where's the new ideas? The things that make people think 'wow' like communicators, transporters and tricorders were on the first series?
What new ideas are there, we've pretty much done everything there is to do in sci fi?

Having binged 1-5 on Sunday, we watched E6 last night.

Good news, the Klingons have started speaking English, hopefully soon it'll be all the time even amongst themselves. Hopefully they'll all collectively come to the conclusion that English is a far better way of communicating than their language and just dump it altogether.

Their langauge sounds like a cross between phlegm clearing coughs and dolphin / whale clicks. Maybe they can actually talk to whales, there was precident for being able to speak whale back in Star Trek IV, the Voyage Home.

All moaning aside people, this is after a drought of about 12 years, a brand new high quality Star Trek series and if we are all honest, many of us would watch it no matter what!

I love STD ...... err best not use that acronym too much me thinks.

Pretty sure if you log in to netflix.co.uk you'll get uk content.
Using iPad app so that doesn't work, and tried going to the UK site in Safari and got the same result.
You will have to use a VPN app to hide your location, if your in the states and trying to access UK\European content it won't allow you, all down to distribution rights, etc.
Netflix are quite good at detecting when you're using a VPN nowadays.
No they aint, I have one working and it works fine.

Ipad used on netflix and for Amazon...
Just because yours works doesn't mean they aren't getting better at detecting it.

I mentioned it for the benefit of the chap above so he doesn't get too frustrated if he signs up to a service and it doesn't work first time.

Ironically EU legislation is trying to stop Netflix et al using geolocation, but that's going to be difficult to define and implement given the 3rd party content & distribution rights involved.

I'm abroad on a network that blocks VPNs anyway so now use a couple of dongles and get routed through to my home router IP address which solves all these problems, at last.

Seriously, are you that much of a dick?

It's his opinion, it is no less valid than yours.
No need to name call is there?

Their opinion is fine. I was laughing at the exact phasing of ‘far more alien’. Being far more alien than what, compared to what?

Let’s face it. A Hippo doesn’t look remotely human. Should we now claim they are more alien looking than Klingons from TNG? biggrin

So which looks the more Alien to you or do they both look human?

This:

Or this:

I suspect the ‘white-man-blacked-up’ in the top pic might be your choice or perhaps you can’t see the difference.

More alien than what though?? Your rational makes no sense.

And how is this not alien looking enough - note several years before The Next Generation. So stop being a tit and only referencing TOS from the 1960’s!

In your last post you state:

“No need to name call”

Then in the following post you say:

“Stop being a Tit”

rofl

You really are a cretin.

Have seen the first five episodes and not enjoying that much TBH.

Prefer The Orville.

But I will continue to watch it just so that I can come on here each week to moan about it. smile

Would save on toilet paper I guess. Unless they abuse some other poor life form and force it to be an arse cleaner.

What a pleb, yes you are correct, the Klingons dound like they are speaking Welsh.

Do you think Welsh people would be able to speak whale and to the whale probe when it next turns up for a chat? Good job the road road signs over there are also in Welsh so the whale probe can find them.
