..or that its country cousin, the Ranchero , just about invented the whole faux SUV genre.Renault 16 too -a family hatch years before we caught on to the idea .

I would also have liked to have seen a pre war Bugatti like a T35 and a Facel Vega HK 500- the French Bristol 407 /Jensen CV8 / Gordon Keeble GK1 equivalent .

But my wife says I am an anorak ......

Good series. Hope there's a follow up. Hollywood comes across as genuine.

Me. I quite enjoy it. More 'proper' car reviews thzn British TG, and whilst many of the challenges are the same as the Brit version, some aren't, and in all of them, there's a lot less ego on show. Sure, they're still scripted, but it's a lot less obvious.

I thought that they might feature a Ranchero for that reason.

First people carrier, Renault Espace launched in 1984. Not the VW Type 2 Microbus from 1950?

I can forgive that because the series has been so good; just the right mix of humour and car geekiness.

Quick question, if Jean Pierre Jabouille couldn't get the Renault turbo up to temperature because of the rain how on did they manage back in teh day? I know for certain they raced in torrential rain back then! laugh

The chief strategy they pioneered was deciding not to use septuagenarian drivers and forty year old engines and chassis I suspect.

Trivial fact - there are seven F1 drivers whose only podium appearance was a win, but only Jabouille ever did it twice. And apart from that he only finished in the points one other time.

I'm surprised Facel Vega didn't get a mention

Even in jest, just seeing inverted Reliant Robin is causing enough dental irritation to need anti-histamines!
And I've quoted it. Idiot!

I don't remember if it was Mike Brewer of that berk of Car SOS, but I do remember somebody on telly mentioning a "Lamborghini Mooeera"

And just who started the whole Robin Reliant thing anyway? It's so ubiquitous, it must have begun somewhere.
