My wife has been watching this series for weeks now, so its been on in the corner of the room (whilst I'm on my laptop conducting vital internet research into things I don't need to know).

From what Ive seen its a slow bland depressing programme. I'm not referring to the storyline as Im not following it, more the general feel of the programme, sounds etc.

Late to the party just watched the first couple of episodes and thought it was great.

Might need to watch something more cheerier alongside side it as it’s pretty grim!
Wait till you see the "hanging " scene... Very powerful stuff.

It is excellent you need to stop searching the internet for things you don’t need to know get into it.

It is slow, it is depressing, but it is utterly gripping. Very cleverly done with the flashbacks showing we are but a hop skip and jump away from the dystopian nightmare described. Some of the similarities are frightening.

I found the scene in the swimming pool particularly disturbing, perhaps because it was also incredibly touching. I am going to read some of Attwood's books also, she seems like a very interesting character.

Intersting fact, sales of the book, first published in the 80s, rocketed in and from 2016, after Trump was elected!

Yep, it's like the reverso of gun buying surges. Democrat president gets in, gun sales go up. Republican president gets in, sales of dystopia-porn goes up hehe

Oddly enough started Season 4 last night it’s really good
We haven't been enjoying season 4 as much as the others, there are too many things that make us roll our eyes, for example (general spoilers for season 4) Oh look, June's been captured again. June escapes, what a shock. June gets bombed and looks who she runs into - what a coincidence! June makes another dumb decision, etc..., it's the bits without June we find most interesting.

Sorry for keeping resurrecting this thread, now on season 3 and still finding this disturbing but compelling. It is a very clever programme and makes you think about many different issues, opening up many avenues of discussion.

Watching it now , Serena Joy and Fred are the worst characters ever to be on the small screen.

I’v read the books and feel the series is every bit as riveting .

New season (5) has dribbling onto free-to-air telly here in Australia. Is anyone still watching it or have you given up on it?
