Total non-story dredged up by the usual rags who are quite probably earning just as much for writing drivel.

Shall we have a chat about hedge fund managers when it comes to value.
Are the BBC employing hedge fund managers?

Zoe Ball got a 1m pay rise, and lost 1m listeners. That's not good VFM. My pension is in funds and it's doubled in value in 5 years. Those fund managers seem to be earning their pay.

ZBall took a pay cut. But if you think about it nobody else would pay them anywhere near the BBC money in 2021 so none of thats storming off in a smashy and nicey huff.

These are bbc salaries, not bbc worldwide, the commercial arm.

Many people choose bbc over itv during Euros to avoid adverts, not because of Lineker.

Excerpt she didn’t just do radio work did she.

Total non-story unless you get your opinion from the Daily Mail.

I don’t think it’s very fair on the individuals- they got their role and negotiated their rate.

To try to humiliate them it’s just not right.

Sure to average salary person £28k pa they seem high.
And also it’s bonkers why the PM of our country is on such a trivial rate really it should be £1-2m a year and the cabinet £600k department dependant.
MPs should be £300k but much fewer of them - let’s get top talent in running the country. Quality govt quality opposition.

Personally, if I were in media, I'd avoid the BBC for this reason - I can't imagine anything worse than having my personal salary details publicised for all to see. I think it's why some stars have left.
Flip side to that is that there isn't a commercial station in the country that can give a presenter access to the audience reach that the BBC can. There isn't a radio station in the country that can give Zoe Ball more listeners than Radio 2 in the breakfast slot. Sometimes its not all about the primary income stream. Sometimes its ego. Sometimes it's the case that you get more secondary income opportunities by being a household name.

It's public sector. NHS and everyone else published pay bands, right up to the PM.

Bbc is no different. And bbc commercial is exempt.

Difference is the BBC only just started doing this / forced to do so. Other roles you knew in advance of going for the job it’s public knowledge what grade is (but individuals unless you knew their grade you’d have no idea apart from the entire range you presume they work in)

They had 1 years notice, they could have left. Some Nordic countries publish everyone's salaries online every single person.

It makes the bbc more accountable to the public, and they still have the commercial arm to hide things in. For example programmes like Killing Eve are made by BBC America (even though the show is based here). Plus various joint ventures they get involved in.

They don’t publish wealth increase (share price) - so it’s purely for PAYE really/the plebs.
