I'm sure they'll bounce back.

Season 6 - Rick's group attacked (one of) the saviours compounds and kill them in their sleep. Shortly afterwards the saviours set up roadblocks across half the state in order to stop them reaching hilltop.

Season 7 - the rubbish dump dwellers (wombles?) double cross Rick's group and side with Negan.

Season 8 - Rick's group fires half their armoury at what looks like an empty building. I half expected a load of saviours to turn up behind them once they'd finished firing. Rick's group then go to the other compound and use the rest of their bullets to destroy 1 man and a car.

I'm sure Negan has a load of other franchises set up in the area so the saviours will be back soon.
Sadly I fear you're right and this tedious state of affairs could continue for ever...

Like some others, I watch this a) out of habit and b) in the hope that it'll ever recover some of its freshness and originality from the first series.

Sadly, I don't think the latter will ever happen, it's lost its way, died and stumbles on aimlessly, consuming TV broadcast hours for no real purpose...

So after months of being terrorized and abused by Negan, and spending an age gathering a large force, all they had to do was take out a few look outs and rock up with 25 people in cars and it's game over for Negan??

WTAF?

Dwight maybe did more than just give out locations of spotters. He might have asked or suggested to Negan a meeting to get everyone together in the main building at the time Rick attacked and had the place surrounded by the walkers.

I am watching out of habit more than anything. I think the biggest trouble is they've spent 3 or 4 seasons in Alexandria, so the whole things stagnated. The concept works better when they don't get too settled and walkers are more of a threat. Season 1 was great because they never got a chance to settle in a proper safe place. The next few seasons allowed them to settle in a new location, build up a false sense of security, then dash it away. Now, other than the occasional rebuilding effort, they only have other groups to worry about.

They could do with burning the place to the ground and hitting the road again, but I can't see that happening as Negan seems fairly entrenched in the show now.

I am surprised that the show has lost it's way so badly (though I still enjoy it, particularly the character development side of things). The comics are still in production and I guess must still be quite popular, has the show moved away from the comics dramatically? Where are we in relation to the comics now?

Game of Thrones has kind of lost it's way and is now quite rushed as they're working from a few bullet points from the author on an incomplete story, but this is still based on an existing and developing story.

I'd actually say the show has converged somewhat with the comics. Some stuff in the show was never in the comics they went their own way, some characters are different, some are merged but the general Negan arc is the same.

The wombles don't exist in the comics I've read but there are other post Negan factions with an interesting outlook, I thought the wombles might be a toned down version of these people as they might be a bit macabre for TV.

Possibly, Negan kept telling Rick he was going to be in trouble any minute, I'm sure he's got another card up his sleeve, about 6 hours of screen time's worth I'd guess.

Cool, thanks. It does seem to have lost something since the earlier seasons (forgetting season 2 of course).

I think all tv shows should have a cap of 4-5 seasons because it just gets a bit silly and they just cram stuff in that don’t make sense(the people who live at the tip who talk funny and look like bjork) to make more money, the only tv shows I never lost interest in are the following,

Boardwalk empire
The sopranos
Game of thrones
True detective

Yes GoT & the sopranos have over 6 seasons but they’re the only exceptions to the dozens of shows I’ve watched.

Went off topic a bit but just annoys me as I really enjoyed walking dead up until this episode! Well I lost interest until negan was introduced in the show as I like Jefferey dean Morgan and he’s fun to watch, he’s definitely the only reason I carried on watching as the plot became very tiring
Agree with a lot of that, not sure it has to be tied up in a certain amount of time, but I think for truly great TV there has to be a over-all story for the whole series.

With TWD it seems to me that when Frank Darabont was in charge, as short as that was, it was going to have one (I know the Comics are still going, but that doesn't mean the TV Show should). When the group arrived at the CDC we got our one and only glimpse into why and how the world as we knew it ended and a bit of an insight into the state of the rest of the world, in series 3 we saw an Army group which gave us an idea there was still some sort of government in place, maybe but since then TWD world have gotten a lot smaller - despite what Jesus said and I can only conclude it's to maximise profits - don't let the story progress, it's an endless cycle of safety, big baddie destroys everything, nomadic for a bit, safety again so you can keep milking it for another couple of series.

The cost cutting is showing too - how many times have we seen that same stretch of road? Is there literally a mile and a half of Highway bridge left that seems to be the epicentre of all actively in the area? Did they build a massive figure of 8 road for sts and giggles just before the Zoms came to provide us with an endless hoard doing laps till they're needed?

By the time series 8 ends, we would have spent 40% of the whole thing, just waiting for someone to finally kill Negan 'the bullet dodger'.

If they loosely follow the comic storylines, Negan is possibly going to be around for quite a while. wink

Really? I was kinda hoping we might move on from this to something more interesting. Negan hasn't been living up to his early promise recently. Either someone kill Negan or someone kill Rick, I no longer care which just so that we can find a new direction for the show, maybe even involving some zombies for a change rather than them being less of a problem than some garden weeds.

This is dire.Haven't seen any previous series/episodes,due to the hype around around it I expected something epic, nothing happened last week apart from using an inexhaustible supply of ammunition, maybe it will pick up I thought ,no just more of the same. Couldn't they find any actors and a proper director, and perhaps employ a script writer.

So much of what they do makes no sense.

Why didn't the snipers shoot Negan on the porch?
Where did all the Saviours go? Surely The Sanctuary was surrounded?
Why did Jesus not kill the bloke in the toilet cupboard?
Why have they decided not to kill all the Saviours they caught?
Just how many bullets do they have, and why have Rick and Daryl got to go hunting for more guns inside?
Is a child's toy superhero body armour really bulletproof?
Can they really stretch this battle out over a whole series?

Last nights was weak.

I mean 'Hollywood' bullets - AKs and AR15s that can barely punch through glass, kill red shirts dead instantly but sort of knock out Morgan for dramatic effect.

The leader of the saviours who, upon realising that they were now surrounded by their recently killed mates were in trouble just allowed one to eat her.

Oh and yes, not since the shoot out which was almost like Police Squad.

It was another £4.50 budget filler episode.

It has turned into farce now.

Best one from last night was the woman who ,somehow, managed to take out those two men with arrows fired about 0.5 seconds apart.

I think I am just about done with this show sadly.

Last nights was like a comedy version of an A-Team episode. One guy got shot and gently rolled onto the floor. Another went down just before being hit by the bullet.

Also, has anyone else noticed the poor quality picture? Very grainy.

saw a bloke hit the deck but looked as though he gently laid his rifle down beforehand laugh

the amount of ammo these lot are rinsing is comical. I do enjoy watching it but i feel it's lost it's spark.
