darn, darn close
It's probably already surpassed $2bn, given it's still taking $1-2million daily in the US and the Monday figures haven't yet been posted.
Am I right in saying that it's the only film on that list not to benefit from a re-release (or 2!)?

I don't think the force awakens had one - and I can't find any information about E.T. either - but all the others had multiple cinema releases.

Avengers hasn't, neither has Jurassic World, or Avatar. And that list isn't inflation adjusted, so it's basically nonsense anyway.

apologies I was only looking top 5. That being said you are correct that these are not inflation adjusted - that way Hollywood can always seem to have bumper years

Avatar did have a cinema re-release:

https://screenrant.com/avatar-rerelease-date/

I did an inflation adjusted list earlier in the thread based on global box office takings - this is what the top 10 looks like now:

Titanic - $4,119,241,628
Avatar - $3,267,685,438
Star Wars - $2,744,314,777
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial - $2,367,864,700
Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $2,186,710,796
Jurassic Park - $2,146,238,888
Infinity War - $2,002,059,331
The Lion King - $1,870,598,957
Jurassic World - $1,855,767,187
Gone with the Wind - $1,850,728,800

I think IW will have to settle for 7th place.......unless the rumoured 3hr+ cut exists and is re-released at the cinema later in the year, ahead of it coming out on blu-ray biggrin

Jurassic Park has had at least one re-release, may even have had a 2nd (albeit minor) one

I finally saw this over the weekend. I did so well at avoiding any spoilers, and I would like to thank whoever is in charge of Facebook algorithms for making that possible as well..

Wow. Just, wow. What a film. Even though we all kind of know where it is going, the fact that film did what it did was incredible.

Also reading up on so many of the posts here this morning has been great, I love all the theories and the back story etc to remind me just how much cool stuff they did.

Only downside for me was having to sit next to my wife as she was gushing away at the Thor/Quill scene - she's clearly a fan of any famous dude called Chris.. (except Rock and Brown... and Moyles...)

Saw this at the weekend, I enjoyed it, but it was bit battle, battle, battle. With very little respite in between the fights. Also, it felt very cartoony during a lot of the film, there was so much CGI.
Great to see a massive film from a big franchise have a very bad ending though, rather than the usual Hollywood happy ending.

Predictions for the next lot...

Death of Cap fairly certain IMHO other than the obvious Chris Evans indicating he was hanging up his time with the shield. Buck to pick up the Shield maybe...
Death of Iron Man seems like the time for TS/RDJ to retire from the role, not sure who could pick this up in his place, TS has been burdened with knowledge and a hefty IQ so they need someone to equal this who has the gravitas of RDJ to bring to the role!
Introduce Captain Marvel into the regular Avengers roster.
Prof Hulk see the directors stuff, it seems Hulk didn't appear as he is fed up with bailing out Banner and not because Thanos handed him his arse, seems like we might see a more collaborative Hulk/Banner combo.

As for how/if they stop Thanos and return the timeline, one could imagine a story around stealing back the time stone from the Infinity Gauntlet which was pretty damaged mean Thanos needs it repaired, but time travel will most likely be involved? Would be cool to see Thanos learn of Hellas death and want to do something about it.

Would also like to see Deadpool just appear in the background of a scene and do a double take of "I'm in the wrong film" and sneak back off screen but it will never happen regardless of how funny I think it would be.

I think the st storm that is kicking off around GotG might mix things up a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if Drax get's booted, especially if Dave Bautista carries on down his current line of thinking.

There are plenty of potential members who could replace him - not least Adam Warlock who has already been hinted in a post credit scene of GotG2.

Carol Danvers and Ant Man have also been members of the GotG in some comic continuities.

Hemsworth has been in 3 Thor films now too, I'd be surprised if he goes on for another one given that Thor has lost pretty much everyone in his life that was the foundation of the previous films. What could Thor 4 even be about?

I reckon the following:

Certain death:
- Thanos (obviously)
- Captain America
- Iron Man/Tony Stark
- Thor
- Scarlet Witch (she's sortof no one in isolation)

Surviving:
- Black Panther
- Spiderman
- Doctor Strange
- Black Widow
- Peter Quill/Starlord (GoTG 3 set after Avengers 4)
- Gamora (seems likely she is in the soul gem/will be resurrected, and therefore unlikely she'll die again)
- Rocket (GoTG 3 set after Avengers 4)
- Drax (GoTG 3 set after Avengers 4)
- Groot (GoTG 3 set after Avengers 4)

Unsure:
- Bucky
- Nebula
- Mantis
- Everyone else

Basically we can all agree some will die, some won't hehe

I more interested in how we will get there, anyone got anything here?

He’s said he’ll walk from GotG3 if they don’t use Gunn’s (finished and all agreed) script.

Would be a shame, he worked well as Drax and had some great lines.

I'm guessing these predictions were written before seeing Ant Man and the Wasp? I'd be amazed if Ant Man doesn't play a significant role considering the hints dropped in that film.

I decided Shuri would become Iron Man when I watched Black Panther and I'm not deviating from that!

interesting (although her voice grates), I do have a degree of sympathy for Disney but she nailed it on the whole "...it's a family values company..." and potentially not compatible with some of the people they have brought onboard. Gunn is an interesting case though since his comments were made, and (crucially) known about, before mousehouse hired him.

Does this new puritanism sweeping Hollywood mean then that we're going to see sackings of substance abusers, taxdodgers etc etc?
