I’m hearing my forecast is almost entirely correct. Not that you had to be Nostradamus to see it coming.
CGI battle against the evil leader and his hordes ensues. Yawn.
I’ve booked for Saturday but only because the other half really wants to see this.
Well, this is a story that they've been building towards for 11, maybe more years, so it's pretty special, and had many blocks put in place, we now know the characters, and care about them, stuff could get really interesting. It could be all the same as Av1&2...I hope it takes a step forwardCGI battle against the evil leader and his hordes ensues. Yawn.

Saw this last night at the waterloo imax, a cinema at midnight full of nerds. It was great
There where some obvious story elements but certainly not what i expected, how they kept a lot of that under wraps is astonishing (though i did do my own media blackout).
One hell of a misdirection marketing campaign.
i cant believe i have to wait another year

Just over 5 hours to go for me............haven't been this excited about a movie in years.
edit: Just got back. They did a pretty good job of bringing all the characters together, better than I expected - i'd give it a solid 7 or 8/10.
a couple of lose ends nicely tied up too......won't say to much at this stage just in case anybody clicks the spoiler tag by mistake

Wow, just wow. I won't spoiler tag just yet as I'm still collecting my thoughts, but wow.
It's not too often I'm surprised at where a major mainstream movie takes me but fair play to Fiege, Russo brothers etc, they took one hell of a risky swing with this one and still managed to hit a home run. LOVED that every single person in the cinema just sat in silence when the credits rolled and waited all the way to the (brilliant) post credits scene.
I'm in awe at the trailers even more now, that's how you market a movie whilst giving absolutely nothing away. There is basically an entire industry around tearing apart trailers and footage now, so I love that they just flat out made stuff up for the trailers.

This is getting good reviews, Black Panther got rave reviews, however I thought it was average; am I going to be dissapointed with Infinity War?
Which ones have you liked? As single standalone movies I preferred Homecoming, Ragnarok and Black Panther to this, mainly because those movies actually have a chance to breath. As an event movie with a packed audience however, Infinity War is up there with anything I've seen full stop.I would have happily watched Infinity War for 5 hours if it meant more banter between the characters etc, particularly those that haven't met or interacted much before, and it does suffer like Rogue One did in terms of simply having to physically cover an immense amount of ground for a large portion of the run time.
But, and it's a big but, I think anyone going into this would surely be prepared for all of that. There are certain limits when it comes to that many characters to cover in one film, and it is part one of two.
I saw this on Thursday morning and wanted to have a think before posting.
It’s a really well made enjoyable film. I’m already planning to go and see it again, however I’m guessing the sequel will make it totally irrelevant.
I won’t say anymore as that would risk spoilers, but when you’ve seen it you’ll know exactly what I mean.
A two and a half hour movie that really only serves as a character introduction. An introduction that you’ll miss if you leave before the credits too.
Still an enjoyable experience though.

I’m a bit sleep deprived after watching this late last night. Loved it!
I think they did a fantastic job of bringing together the multiple characters, managing multiple action scenes, while keeping the audience engaged in the story. Like a juggler keeping 15 plates spinning and 5 balls in the air, without dropping a single one.
I praised Civil War for making the climax a personal fight about friendship and vengeance, rather than saving the world. Previously they seemed to be getting into a rut of each film upping the stakes and the scale of the battle. This time its endless battles turned up to 11 for the fate of the universe, but they make it work brilliantly.
The audience in the cinema collectively gasped at one event. The story does go places you wouldn’t expect in a blockbuster movie franchise.
Personally I think it played out as I hoped it would, even though I avoided trailers etc as much as possible. As a former Marvel comics nerd, to do justice to the Infinity Gauntlet they really had to go all the way.
It’s going to be a long wait for the next one.

I'm not so sure.Edited by Moonhawk on Friday 27th April 09:19
I'm expecting the former, but if it does turn out to be the latter i'll be very impressed at the audacity of it

It's either an upcoming macguffin to fix everything, or all the talk of various franchises continuing for years was an elaborate red herring.

The maguffin already exists due to the time stone - however I doubt it will be as straight forward as "fixing everything". During Dr Strange - Mordo warned that there was always a price to pay for upsetting the natural order........I expect things will be 'fixed' (how can they not be) but that there will be a few unexpected upsets as a result. Also the "not trading one life for another" was made quite a big thing of in IW - I think this will feature quite heavily in IW2. I'm expecting the former, but if it does turn out to be the latter i'll be very impressed at the audacity of it
The only movies set after IW2 that include the current cast of characters that have been confirmed so far are Spiderman 2 and GOTG - all other character arcs could, in theory, end with IW2. Both Ant Man 2 and Captain Marvel are prequels to infinity war.
