i also watched this weekend him celebrating his 75th by commissioning 3 paintings
just brilliant touching television.
Seen that again last night, sure he says "you bugger" at one point casting the big yin as a dwarf king is comic genius

His New Zealand and Australia tours are fantastic viewing, a great mix of clips from his gigs on the tour interspersed with some genuinely interesting stuff about the areas he's in.
His style of comedy is a lost art IMO, he must have a plan for a gig but he genuinely appears to be doing it off the cuff, and I'm confident that you could go and see him two nights in a row on the same tour and find the shows considerably different. Back in day anyway - less so now that he is struggling with his memory etc. Versus today's heavily scripted repetitive nonsense on the likes of Mock wth Week there is no comparison.

An absolute legend of a man and as already said one of the funniest men on the earth.
I'll second that...The modern sketch where he and the family are on holiday in Spain and his kid refills the water bottle from the tap (with obvious results) has the same effect on me.
I would have loved to have seen him live but fear that his best live shows are probably behind him now, still it'll be a sad day when he passes on. A true legend.
Judas! You're gettin oan ma tits!

I'm afraid I can confirm that - saw him a year or two ago and, while very good, his health is suffering badly and it does mean the style he is famous for isn't really there any more.K50 DEL said:

As an actor he is superb, his performance in "What we did on our holidays" was wonderful.
This will probably be my strongest memory of him, such a beautiful film. He was wonderful in it.I used to live in Aberdeen, and saw him at the Airport, trying to collect his bags. He was absolutely mobbed.
It's been a few years since I've watched any of his stand up, but remember how much I enjoyed it, and how much joy it brought to my Dad as well. In the Illicit Still in Aberdeen, they used to play audio of his shows in the loos, which was quite cool.
Went to see him live probably 15 years ago but didn't really find him funny. Something of a heard it all before type thing going on I seem to remember.
Also hate the way he shoehorns into every show "I live in LA now".
I say all that as someone who has found him very funny in the past and enjoy his travel docs.

And I'll third it... I have some early audio tapes of him doing stand-up in my collection including a routine about Wellington Boots called "Scottish Highland National Dress" and I cannot listen to that in the car as I wouldn't be able to see for the tears.
