Paint your waggon. Absolutely dire.

An early date with girlfriend; long term wife. She still owes me for that.

The Simpsons absolutely nail it. I turned up thinking " how can a Western with Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin be crap?" I had even heard Wandrin' Star and assumed it related to the lifestyle choice of the Eastwood character in a Fist full of Dollars.

I have just read the synopsis but cannot recall any element of it.

I mentioned this thread to my wife and she immediately guessed the answer would be Paint your Waggon. She only remembers it being crap as well.

I suppose the modern equivalent might be Oceans Eleven, which relies solely on the egos of big box-office actors, but passed on the need to employ a scriptwriter, or film director.

I've never actually walked out of a cinema, and haven't seen many truly bad films there. I think there's something about watching it on such a big screen, and perhaps a subconscious desire to want to get your money's worth, means even a mediocre film is more enjoyable when seen in such an environment.

That said, there were a few awful rom-coms that I was dragged along to on various dates in the past, but their names have long been forgotten. The worst film I have seen of my own choosing however was Transformers 2. The first one was flawed but a lot of fun, whereas this was a complete mess, with action scenes so chaotic it was impossible to figure out who was hitting who.

The Tom Cruise version of War Of The Worlds. I really like the original film, as does my dad, we both went to see the Tom Cruise film at the cinema. It was turned into a Tom Cruise film starring Tom Cruise with Tom Cruise in it, for me, that's the worst type of Tom Cruise film. The other reason for it being terrible is the build up to the big battle of the military vs the aliens being reduced to some soldiers running around and a few words about it happening on the other side of the hill. fk that, if you're going to have a sci-fi film build up to a great big fight between the aliens and the military, I want to see a great big fight between the aliens and the military. Idiots.

Now, I've slightly dug up this thread because I've read this http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2017/10/02/tom... and agreed with it almost completely. Tom Cruise running around, doing his own stunts, and being the hero (MI, Jack Reacher, The Mummy) is just boring now. The films of his that I like are stuff like American Made and Collateral, where he's the bad guy or the crook, but he gets you on his side. No slick hair and shiny white grin 4th July God Bless America stuff. I almost completely agree with the article because I quite like Oblivion and Knight & Day, and writer doesn't.

The Black Swan. What a load of old guff that was. Inception was a load of baffling rubbish too and I fell asleep during one of the Harry Potter filums.

The trailer for that made it look excellent. My wife and mother-in-law went to see it, the MiL (a 77yo church-going ex-primary school teacher who really isn't one for swearing) decreed it to be 'utter ste'.

I enjoyed both of those. Shin Godzilla was truly awful at times.

The Net, starring Sandra Bullock.

I only went to see it with the girl I was dating at the time because I was hopeful of a Friday night bunk-up, I had a few too many beers in the pub beforehand, fell asleep 30 mins in because it was so boring, woke when she elbowed me in the ribs as the end credits rolled.

My todger remained firmly holstered that night! laugh

Only film I've ever been to that emptied the cinema.
This, although I watched it the whole way through as I went with a mate who thought it was great.

You had to be on acid to get that film, I think it scrambled my mates head as I never saw him again. redface

The other was True identity "staring" Lenny Henry.

Dear god, what a steaming pile of poo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JBXtVrGmaI

I actually went to the world premier in the Prince Charles theatre after winning some tickets on radio 1. biggrin

Only saving grace was Betty Boo was sat in front of me, she wasn't doing her doo, which was another disappointment. https://youtu.be/sM_9As_2VAg

One of my all time favourite movies LOL (But if you've spent a lot of time on business in Japan...as I have...then you will certainly relate to it)

Only ever walked out of three movies. Congo, Eyes Wide Shut and Birdman. Still no idea how any of them end.
