We're fairly picky and can usually trust the non spoiler reviews of somebody like Mark Kermode before deciding on a cinema trip, so 100s of trips and very, very few duds.

At Worlds End would probably be the standout, loved Hot Fuzz and Shaun so we were both surprised at how much we disliked it.

I never understand people who buy a ticket to say, the latest Transformers and are apparently surprised that it's garbage.

Traffic with Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta jones in. It was all hyped up so went the cinema and its the only time I've seen people get up and walk out on a film. I had to stay to the end because I thought something good is going to happen and come together, but no, just absolute rubbish.
Were you expecting a modern day version of "The jewel of the Nile" crossed with "Entrapment" ?
Yeah, I would have been disappointed too.

It's a good film - it's social commentary.

I've seen a lot of bad films, but at the cinema it has to be 'The Village', that was the worst by some margin.
Oh God, yes! The Village. Went with a group, and the guy who recommended seeing it had to apologise after.
It was laughably bad, but I’ve sat through many films like that.

Jaws 4. The revenge.

The film got stuck and melted. Genuinely the most interesting thing in the film.

I love loads of the films in this thread, it's all so subjective eh!

To say Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a bad film is just plain erroneous though ... I mean come on, it's an absolute masterpiece that's just one part of an even bigger masterpiece.

Like I said though, subjective. beer

I didn't like Lord of the Rings at the cinema. I remember the story vaguely from childhood, so was sitting there, 3 hrs in, wondering how they were going to wrap the rest of it up in 10 minutes when they hadn't got to the woods yet. Then it ended on "...to be continued" and my mate told there was another two to go FFS.

Worst film of all was on a hungover new year's day, me and some friends wanted to get out of the house so settled on the cinema. The best of a bad bunch was Pet Detective 2, we hadn't seen the first one, so missed all the in-jokes, and the film was just a total mess. Was a bad mistake.

Agreed, It just shows how tastes differ, I have seen all 3 films about 15-20 times (a couple times each in cinema and then the extended versions at home)
In my opinion as you say masterpieces! (unlike the Hobbit which were a let down) but I can see they wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

Indiana Jones 4: Something to do with a Crystal Skull, cost me nearly £30 as I paid for my Mrs furious

And A Good Day To Die Hard isn't far behind. These days when someone suggests we go to the cinema and decide what to watch when we get there we don't go hehe

Arrival.

I'd gone to see it on my birthday while our son was at a footie match. I realised I probably wasn't going to like it when the woman, whatever her name is, was an expert in Arabic and Mandarin and loads of other languages. (As a translator, it's hard to suspend disbelief that far!)

Anyway. I thought I'd give it a go despite the linguistic nonsense. Half an hour in, I was wondering when anything exciting was going to happen. People around me were starting to yawn.

An hour in, and everyone in the place was yawning. A few got up and walked out. Not me though - I'd paid to see the film, so I was jolly well going to see it! Anyway, I had nowhere to go because I had to wait for the footie match to finish. smile

Never been so glad to see the end of a film. I don't quite understand why so many of the reviews were so overwhelmingly positive about the film, I thought it was dull and pretentious and a complete waste of £11 or however much I paid to get in. And as for whatshername's linguistic skills - yeah, right!

'Bruno'

Borat was a fairly funny film so expected this to live up to that as well.

Absolute tosh, walked out within 10 minutes.
