All good tonight so far. Going to be difficult to see who is in the dance off.

I must say that the 2 guys left in (Joe and Davood) are doing far better than I had expected at this stage. It would be good to see one of them end up in the final.

I still struggle to 'warm' to Alexandra.

Know what you mean. I find Debbie really uncharismatic too (brilliant dancer though), and I wish she and others would stop going on about how she's 59 rolleyes

The 'comedy' bits by Tess and Claudia are excrutatingly embarrassing too.

I'd be quite surprised if Joe isn't in the final, and I'd probably have him as the favourite at this point.

I liked mollies dance, very sweet and in character. Think Shirley understood it, it was supposed to be girly and soft, but not sure Criag and Darcy did.

Davood's dance was brilliant in terms of drama and concept, if he does it again hopefully he'll iron out some of the little wobbles etc.

Actually enjoyed Alexandra for once and think she did a cracking dance. But then got annoyed by her "such an honour to close the show" nonsense, as if she had been specifically asked to close it or something.

Very hard to call the bottom two now, though I'd guess at Gemma and Alexandra.

I loved Tess' dress tonight. Very much my cut and colour. cloud9

Claudia's.... um... less so. smile

None of the contestant dances particularly wowwed me though - I'm finding it quite hard to engage this year. Joe is probably my favourite at the moment, not least because I have a lot of affection for the dramatisation of Iain Banks' The Crow Road that he starred in years ago (alongside a young Peter Capaldi and Simone Bendix). His dance was probably the best of the night for me.

Gemma's dance was better than previous weeks but I don't see her lasting much longer. Likewise, Mollie's dance was as insipid and vapid as she is. I'm really surprised she's lasted as long as she has.

So I'd be quite happy to see Gemma and Mollie in the dance off.

On tonight’s efforts the bottom two deserve to be in the bottom two but Davood’s much better than that. Gemma and Mollie really are quite a way below the other four, but also the top three of Debbie, Joe and Alexandra (I’d be happy if they finished in that order) are quite a way ahead of Davood.

Didn't really notice him tbh, was rather distracted by Nadiya's pins!
Totally understandable

I think the Pro voting this has been erratic this year. Last week we had a 4 from Craig and 8s from Shirley and Bruno. Had that been Len, it would not have been a 7.

I feel sure that the producers know the public vote and are manipulating who goes in the bottom two to test the popular reaction. Aston disappeared and the last couple of weeks we have had Alex and Debbie in there, this week Davood is in the fireing line. I guess Gemma has popular support, so he will be gone. And so will Nadiya frown

I do feel that the replacements for Bruce and Len have not really worked. If the whole Strictly experience was a full English breakfast it is like two rashers of meaty crisply bacon have been replaced with a couple of slices of thin boiled ham. But, no doubt, it meets BBC equality policies

After testing the public vote by not highly scoring Debbie and Alexandra in the last couple of weeks, and then having them appear in the dance-off, some judges seem determined to mark down everyone else to ensure those two stay in the top two to get them to the final, but the public vote in the final will quite probably stay clear of them and offer up the glitterball to whichever of the other two get to the final.

It would have been oh so easy for the BBC to have just slipped another male host in to replace Brucie and carry on the decades-long misogyny of "male host with female arm candy". I for one applaud them for keeping Tess and promoting Claudia.

Of the two, I think Tess is the weakest as she's not really very good at hosting (she is from a different time, when all she needed to do was look pretty and laugh at Brucie's jokes and innuendos. She seems a little out of her depth as the main host) and Claudia is a little hamstrung by being rather gagged by the BBC corporate machine - she's very witty and off the cuff, but they are clearly scripting her to within an inch of her life to stop her from saying anything too controversial. Although she did manage to get the "man with a big clock" gag in the other week. hehe

As for Len's replacement, Shirley hasn't been a great success for me. She tends to over-mark, is too nice, and gets too flustered / gets people's names wrong / says stupid things (Jonny with a spring in his step being the most obvious one). Also, for someone who used to be a professional dancer, she moves with a complete lack of grace and coordination when she walks on each week. Mind you, for that matter, Darcy doesn't display the grace you would expect from a ballerina. At least Craig and Bruno look like they can actually dance when they walk on, Craig especially so.

Her biggest problem is that she has been thrown into a long running show as a bit of a television novice so it is not surprising she's nervous or unpolished.

One gets the feeling that the disparity in scoring in being encouraged to rile the audience.

It's become a victim of its own success, and needs a radical shakeup next year. It's lost any credibility as a competition, which I think it needs as a core foundation.
I can't disagree with you - it has become a little "I'm a Celebrity, Keep Me On This Dancefloor". I still love it though. smile

Quite simply I think Shirley is trying too hard and I won't have a bad word said against Darcey smile

Tess is void of any personality or empathy but I do like Claudia. Zoe Ball has no.place on TV or radio.

Anton and Claudia would be a good host pairing, IMHO smile

I do have to agree, those legs are really something.

However, having said that, I seem to have a recurring vision of Oti last week doing the 'Fashion parade' - for me, her whole performance will go down as the absolute highlight of this year's Strictly.

How dare you diss the delicious Darcey! smile Not graceful?

Those legs!

I still have SCD on Series link from when the kids were interested but tend to skim through it these days.

The winner usually has the "likeability" factor but none of them do this series for me particularly Alexandra (no chance on public vote). Also no comedy contender like Ed Balls and no outstanding dances for me like previous series:

Whatever happened to Aliona?

I like Debbie best but she suffers from the "she used to be a dancer" syndrome. So by default Joe to win.
