On the Simon Mayo pages on Facebook I have only seen one person in favour of the changes compared to hundreds against.
Why would this surprise you?

It doesn’t surprise me at all, just an indication of the amount of dislike that I’ve not see in such quantity before.

Jo Whiley Will for me will always be the woman who repeatedly slagged off Coldplay on Have I Got News For You, yet also fawned over them on the BBCs Glastonbury / her own show. I truly cannot stand the woman. And I don't even like Coldplay.

Why would they mess with with what is clearly one of the most popular programmes on R2? Insane. Unless, of course, SM himself fancied a change. Thank god there’s no Glastonbury this year - Jo “I’m too cool for school” Whiley would be unbearable.

Don't care much for her (no malice either).

Surely her music was better suited to the later show. Also probably means that I won't get much chance anymore to listen to Bob Harris anymore - liked to have a listen to that when driving or cooking dinner.

I was discussing the all new Mayo/Whiley show yesterday with a bunch of 30/40/50 something mums. They all liked Jo Whiley's old show and the old format Mayo. They all hated the new mash up.

As someone has suggested Mayos's show was the one show on the R2 daytime schedule that didn't need a refresh.

Thursday evening is my long drive home from Oxford to Devon.

Mayo/Matt/Bobster, confessions, Toogle, Nigey Barden, Whispering Bob and an hour of Jo (or Animatronic)...was a perfect slice of time in the car.

All bloody ruined. For what?

I love Jo Whiley, I haven’t heard the new show yet by reports aren’t great.

How TF is Steve Wright still there, he must have pictures of whoever runs the place with a live Boy or Dead Girl.

Both. That's the ONLY way he's still there....

He has literally been doing the SAME SHOW for over 35 years - when I was early 20s it was quite novel - esp with Charlie Chester and Jimmy Young on R2 - but ffs - his show naturally gravitated to R2 from R1 but it hasn't evolved much if at all.

Why is Jeremy Vile all over the last half hour of Ken Bruce's show? I get the impression that, after the first five minutes of Vile promoting his own show, Bruce can't be bothered with him and drops into monosyllabic responses to Jezza's attempts at stirring up outrage.

The promotion of Vine by the BBC is constant, as you say he interrupts Ken Bruce, who is one of the remaining good ones, then he does his couple of hours of tabloid nonsense and then Steve "fking without a G" Wright comes on and has a Jeremy Vine impersonator. As If we've not just had enough of the bloke.

They were, but they've been done to death now. Like all good jokes they only have a short lifespan.
