I think I may of missed it by making a cup of tea at the crucial moment, but did they explain why he hired Strike in the first place when he'd already got away with it?

Wasn't it more of he wanted to appear a brother desperate for the truth or making out that he was and this is a way he thought might work. To the point that he only expected a very light touch double check and verify the police findings.

Wonder in real life has there ever been a situation whereby post police investigation an investigator has been hired to look into a case and then actually found the truth which he police then act upon - or is it purely fictional fantasy.

I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought it'd be just another BBC drama with the usual stereotypes and poor acting but it wasn't. Like the main character and his sidekick. It could develop quite well.

Apparently because he was desperate to frame the natural brother (the soldier) to prevent him inheriting.

Didn't ring true to me (and I figured it was him at the end of episode 2).

It was OK, a bit like a less gritty Hazell! biggrin

I know someone who has read both books - well she read the first (this one) and was so impressed she bought the next. ...
However she didn't finish it a very poor book apparently - she reads a lot and exceptionally rarely refuses to finish a book. Fingers crossed the TV drama improves from that review.

I've read all three books and enjoyed them. Not great works of literature by any means. I think the casting is spot on for this TV show but they're going to run out of material very quickly if it's successful!

Apparently Rowling has another 10 books planned and made sure the lead actor was in for the long haul before he was cast.

Thought it was pretty run-of-the-mill really - I doubt it would have been made if it hadn't been a Rowling book.

Enjoyed it.

Apart from the Maserati QP parked outside Lula's apartment that turned into a Jaguar as Strike and Robin walked past it. One shot, Maserati. Pan out, Jag. OCD triggered.

Its better than 90% of the rest of TV - Especially the rubbish the BBC usually put on in the 9pm Sunday Slot.

After watching the first two on telly, I listed to the unabridged audio book of the third. Almost 18 hours long!

Could someone explain why the little girl was killed and dismembered?
