Hi Guys.

New to the Merc forum, but, as the title suggests, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I`m sure this is not the first time this has been asked either.

Budget is about £30/£32k. Only interested in the V8.

Regards.

What do you want to know? If it is just general pointers there is a sticky at the top of the forum.

Hi There.

Just wanted to know if there are any faults i need to look out for, by that, i mean, known faults that these cars have.

For example, I was looking at getting a Nissan GTR, but was surprised at the things that go wrong with them, though they were bullet proof!!!!!

Thanks.

I am in the same bot as you, hopefully looking to acquire an estate version around Christmas time.

From what I have seen your budget will give you the pick of the bunch, if you want the standard saloon/ estate. I've been monitoring the classifieds and approved used for a while now, and some cars appear to fly off the shelves whilst others appear to hang around for quite some time with no obvious reason why. Prices vary considerably too, with some of the approved used cars being cheaper than equivalent private sales confused

I think the facelift cars are pretty much bullet proof, the main complaint appears to be relating to the quality of the interior with some rattles.

I am looking at 2013 - 2015 coupe variants. Wondering what the known issues are as well. I remember looking at pre facelift models when I bought my isf and there seemed to be plenty of known issues. Hope they were resolved with the facelift cars.

With a tune they are up at almost 500hp!

Thanks for the replies guys, need to sell my VXR8 first to make room for the C63!!!!!!

Not going to be easy to part with my Vauxhall (Holden) loved every minute of ownership, like the C63, the V8 sound is to die forbiggrin

I actually much prefer the pre 2016 looks and the v8. The looks of the newer model are not to my taste at all. Very curvy and not very aggressive. Also hate the odd tablet thing.

Yeh, me to, don`t like the new shape at all.

Are Mercedes Warranties worth purchasing if i decide not to go to a Merc garage to buy one.

Some Merc garages have a few for sale, so would come with 12 months warranty any way.

No idea. I used warranty direct once and it was useless. Had 3 claims rejected. Had a Lexus warranty and it was spot on and I had 3 claims accepted.

I went from a W204 C63 to a W205 C63 and regretted it the moment the cars were swapped over. Almost everything about the previous model is better than the new one IMO.

They are both V8's mind.

Care to elaborate? I've just bought a W205 C63 coupe and found it a very nice place to be. I've nothing to compare to in terms of W204 ownership of course...

Did you consider going back?

Having looked closely at the option of moving over from the W204, I stayed put.

I have had the merc warranty on my previous cars (C63 and E63) and they paid out straight away on the three times I needed to claim.

I have thought about it but not seriously. Not because I don't want to go back to a car I've owned or because clearly it would be an older car. Neither of those things bother me at all. I think I am going to go for more of a sports car next time I change. I am thinking Maser GT, AM Vantage or possibly a 911.

Fair enough. I've given some thought to a Vantage S - also the older version sonar though it needn't be the S if the right car came along.

The more I read the more I am leaning towards an m3 with competition pack.

C63 looks nicer inside but most importantly gets lots of negative feedback for slow and sloppy shifts with the auto box and not going in to the gear you are selecting all the time. Also, m3 seems like a more track focused fun car. For a toy I am thinking the m3 may be the better purchase.

They are undoubtedly competent cars but you've got that big issue of it being a Beemer that you just can't do anything about.

I looked at the Beemer at the same time as the C63. Although on the link provided above I roundly was disappointed with the C63, I really felt the M3 offered nothing to me - it lacked any soul or 'experience', had no great noise or drama with it at all. Although I was a bit disappointed with the Merc, I know that I'd have moved the M3 on a lot sooner just for it feeling a bit dull frankly!

Interesting as the bimmer seems to be a better B road and track car due to the tail happy heavier AMG?
