It’s an excellent series. Not quite on The Wire standard but better than most on its genre

Having seen it

Came across as a builder season. Franklin hampered with walking stick meant not much action from him.

Turfing the sick and needy out of the shelter shows he is going to get darker. I imagine he won't care dad is dead.

These shows tend to be best when the lead has a nemesis, Forest Whitaker in the shield, Fring in Breaking Bad. Manboy was canned so they need a new opponent.

Shame the Israeli got toned down and relagated to a minor role too. His wild antics were good fun. He should have stayed an ongoing mentor/grandad figure to Saint perhaps.

Is it just me that is finding it more difficult to figure out what is being said? I don't recall having this trouble in earlier series, but it seems there's a combination of a bit of mumbling, faster dialogue and stronger accents.

I suspect the next season will have those who were previously allied pitched against each other or following their own agendas that will clash with the others'.

They've all changed and st's got much darker.

The Israeli going off and doing his own thing, at odds with Teddy.

Franklin at odds with his uncle and aunt.

Franklin's mum secretly hating him.

Remember Teddy killing Freddie Mercury? I thought that was because Teddy had some kind of compassion or decency. Not so sure now!

Franklin has slowly become more cruel, more devious, more evil.

It has echoes of Scarface where things started out with hope and bright young things yet ended up very badly for everyone.

I noticed that (or I thought that) Teddy's gun didn't have a silencer fitted at the end. Isn't that odd? If he's there to kill him? Considering the effort he went to to kill the last person, and to cover it up, that seems too clumsy. I suspect he isn't there to kill him.

I've just binged S4, some interesting character development, some loss to get the stories in as per the comments above.

But still, good. Really good. There are some characters in even The Wire (Idris, sorry mate) who are overblown after the event when you look at their actual contribution, so that there's complexity this far in is not perhaps a surprise.

A fair few hanging threads for another season, which I hope is forthcoming.

Finished S4 yesterday - good stuff, S4 reminded me of Gomorrah.

Preferred S3, especially the theme & direction of the later episodes, S4 really moves the story on though.

Hints online that S5's coming - hope so.

I started watching this recently on Disney+ (Starz). Finished Season1 and watched the first episode of Season2, yikes, that shift in image quality was jarring. Season 2 appears to have increased the frame rate and it looks like a cheap soap opera, in fact, it looks like Sons of Anarchy now (no surprise, being FX).

Great show- watch it if you haven't. Felt S4 was the weakest actually, like they were hurrying to close any story arcs/ Definitely good but as all these shows it toned down from S1.

Thanks. This is one of the few consistently good series across the entire TV network.
