Bugger. I thought it was pretty good. At least Battlebots has another series.

Bonkers decision - considering Robot wars can pull in over 2 million viewers (more than the likes of Eggheads, QI, Hairy Bikers, University Challenge etc)

It even beat the Chris Evans TG series finale.

BBC have a nasty habit of killing off shows that people actually like to watch frown

Battlebots has started up again in the USA, and bits of it have crept into YouTube. First episode has the match everyone wanted last series, Tombstone (the very destructive bar spinner) vs Minotaur (the very destructive drum spinner)

No spoilers I promise - just to say I wasn't in doubt of the outcome for a single second.

First episode on YouTube https://youtu.be/clLY95GAEZA

Looks like they've got rid of the studio part with the blonde woman, and it's all in and around the arena with the 2 guys.

The first episode was great. More or less straight into fights, great action in the fights and minimal fluff. It's what I've always wanted from a robot fighting TV show but never had before. Good competition format too. Guaranteeing everyone multiple fights will make for better fights I think. Even the commentators are good now - they actually seem genuinely into it. Looking forward to the second episode.

I liked the 3 way battle too, but did the builders of Huge watch UK robot wars for their inspiration? That battle was also very UK RW like.

Yep, Gabriel. But the weapon on Huge really worked well, a lot better than Gabriel's axe/hammer.

Well done BBC I doubt there is a single show I watch now. Don't even bother with top gear.
