Last two eps lined up for tonight - can’t wait!
Two great episodes, the brutality and violence goes up a notch in my opinion. Awesome. Best series I've seen in a very very long time, as a long time huge fan of Mr F Castle, this series pleased me immensely.
I felt a had to watch the Marvel series in the correct order...
Daredevil season 1
Jessica Jones season 1
Daredevil season 2, we first see The Punisher
Luke Cage season 1
Iron Fist season 1
The Defenders
The Punisher

are they all good?
Rossatron reckons the Iron FIst one is a bit, erm, less than the others.

Iron Fist isn’t as intense or well written... it’s weak compared to the other series but overall I found it a decent watch. All the others are up to standard though.
In Jessica Jones, David Tennant is a storming bad guy.
Jessica Jones S2 should land in the new year

Just finished. Holy crap that was intense! Will spoiler...
The last fight scene with Russo was fking brutal - not many things make me wince on tv but when he scraped his face down that broken mirror, screaming!!! Holy st that was brutal.
Yep, there are a few moments like that that made me wince too but on the context of the story as was actually say ohhh fk out loud I thought yessss... The last fight scene with Russo was fking brutal - not many things make me wince on tv but when he scraped his face down that broken mirror, screaming!!! Holy st that was brutal.

100% With you on that, I couldn't stop thinking about what that would be like for real. sickening but strangely satisfying. The last fight scene with Russo was fking brutal - not many things make me wince on tv but when he scraped his face down that broken mirror, screaming!!! I'm not as convinced as some of you. I thought they did a really good job of the story and had a decent run at introducing and developing characters. It was brutal but I didn't have the same reaction as some of you.
What really pulled me out of the story in the latter episodes was the ridiculous healing times and and disappointing last fight sequence.

I’d agree with the ridiculous healing times, Frank wasn’t just dishing it out and but taking it too. The main characters would’ve been out of commission for weeks. It was still a strong well written series so I could get passed that. Yeah the healing times are a bit suspect. I had no issues with him carrying on fighting, that's part of the thing with Frank, his sheer bloody minded willpower overcoming pain.
But having a full-on brawl with someone what, a day? after having a collapsed lung is silly. Even the Flash would need longer than that to recuperate!

. . . and leopard crawling into it without so much as a wince. It really bugged me. But having a full-on brawl with someone what, a day? after having a collapsed lung is silly. Even the Flash would need longer than that to recuperate!
Lots to like however.
Finished this yesterday. Very, very good. Up there with Daredevil season 1 as the best thing the Marvel/NetFlix partnership has created.
I’ve never been a fan of the character. To me he’s a dangerous psychopath, who will kill anyone that gets in his way. My view is coloured by the fact that I was reading comics at the time when he did this...
But there’s no question the writers have done a very good job making him a compelling character. And they focused not just on his PTSD, but how previous trauma has shaped many of the characters in some way.
Interesting that they made this very much a ‘stand alone’ show. You wouldn’t miss anything if you watched this without watching the associated shows first. (Well, I guess you would care less about Karen Paige if you haven’t watched DD.)
My biggest problem with it has already been mentioned, which is the impossibly fast healing times. It’s not just in Punisher. I had the same problem with Daredevil. He was virtually gutted in the fight with the ninja guy (Nobu?). That should have kept him out for months. I can’t just dismiss it as ‘because comics’ because they’ve made such an effort to create a show that feels grounded in the real world.
Gripes aside, excellent viewing.
