Couldn't find one for the new Snyder cut so will push this one back top the top.
Sky announced that it'll be available on Sky Cinema (Not Box office!) and now TV on the same date as the US Release which is actually very good, I was really expecting it to be on Sky Store!

ugh ffs Sky I'm not about to sign up for an 18 month contract to watch this
You don't need to, just get a NowTV sky cinema pass, it's 7 day free trial for new members of 11.99 a month. Just cancel before the end of the first month. Then if your SmartTV has a NowTV app, use that or find a cheap dongle or watch on PC etc.eltawater said:

Ah cheers! I'll be doing that thenWas curious reading about this film being in 4:3 format. Everyone bending over backwards to not state the obvious and just agree with the director.
In my opinion its to give it some more mileage with a widescreen showing in theaters once lockdown ends. And also a physical media release of the same.
Those bits on the side never really have much in them anyway but we are used to it now due to the fact they have sold everyone widescreen tv's for over 20 years.
I imagine to get the streaming release it was only allowed if he trimmed the sides off.

Doesn't sound like he's trimmed the sides off, more that he's kept the top and bottom in whereas normally they'd be the bits trimmed to make the letterbox format?
Yes it was actually shot in 4:3 so you will now be seeing all the correct framing and the whole picture as shot. Widescreen presentations of the movie (i.e. everything till now) will have been trimmed top and bottom to fill the screen. It's difficult to find time to watch it all in one sitting.
It's really good though, still a few weak bits but much improved on the original. The story is more rounded, makes a lot more sense and you actually get to spend some time with the characters rather than it seeming like non-stop fighty bits. Overall a much better watch IMO.
I also like how they've overhauled the look of Steppenwolf, I always thought the original didn't look that great.

Not a fan of the 4:3, had to change the aspect ratio on the TV and stick it on zoom to fill the screen.
Thats blown my mind! You'd rather crop a load of stuff of than see some black bars?!When I sit down to watch it proper I'll see how much is chopped off first before deciding to stick with it or change it back to 4:3
Managed to watch about 3 hours so far, and yeah seems pretty good compared to the original so far, hopefully get the ending done tonight.
Didn't realise my TV did 4:3 zoom so basically keeps the top and bottom the same as it should be and slightly stretches the sides to fit so no detail lost.
Ben Affleck is the Fatman in this version when he has the suit on anyway so the slightly stretched version wasn't an issue

I finished watching it last night.
First things first. It's a massive improvement over the original version. Lots of the scenes and a lot of the basic story remains more or less the same. I certainly wouldn't say it's like watching a completely new movie. I was actually quite surprised about quite how much the two versions share. Much of the difference is longer versions of the same scenes that present context and give the audience more time with the characters.
I think one of the issues they had back during the original production was going to be editing it down to a suitable length for a movie. When you start to think about what would be cut it's actually pretty easy to understand how they arrived at the theatrical cut. All Wheadon added were a few crap jokes and some terrible production design.
Overall its turned a disaster into a very interesting and enjoyable success. What I like most it shows there is a different approach to comic book ensemble movies to the MCU that can also work.
I would rate the original as 5/10
the Snyder cut 8/10

I think Warner Bro's have a lot to answer for. The MCU is very bright, full of jokes, big explosions and pzazz. Basically it's an easy sell to execs and your average movie going audience.
The DC universe has always been a bit darker, a bit more brooding. The mainstay for DC movies for years has been Batman, one of the darkest comic characters around so moving from that to the lighter characters like Superman and Wonder Woman was always going to be a bit difficult. Snyder realised this and didn't try to change it which works as it stays with the overall tone of DC's movies to date. However I think the movie execs panicked because they thought they couldn't sell it so tried to Marvelise it by making it brighter, adding in jokes etc but just ended up making it an incongruous mess.
The should have had more faith in the original vision. it's much much better than what we ended up with.
