Not a fan of the 4:3, had to change the aspect ratio on the TV and stick it on zoom to fill the screen.
Thats blown my mind! You'd rather crop a load of stuff of than see some black bars?!
It looks fking st in 4:3. I cannot believe they pandered to Snyder on this. Every single person will be watching this on a 16:9 screen. It isn't even being showing in IMAX cinemas.

What an utter joke.

Would you say that about watching The Lighthouse? Bonus points for being in black and white..."but everyone has a colour TV!"

Don’t watch it then. Simples.

You don't need to, just get a NowTV sky cinema pass, it's 7 day free trial for new members or 11.99 a month. Just cancel before the end of the first month. Then if your SmartTV has a NowTV app, use that or find a cheap dongle or watch on PC etc.

I know people used to rather stretch the 4:3 to 16:9 on early widescreen tv's . Rendering everyone short and fat.
Maybe they can refer to this one as the very short and fat edition lol. VSAF.
I look forward to watching it one day if I get the time. I struggle with 4 hrs on the same subject.
Glad he did it though as I saw the 2hr one and it was obviously sabotaged by film industry morons.

Slightly miffed that this is in 4:3 because IMAX ratio but there isn't a 4K stream available, NOW and Sky are both 1080p irked

There is a UHD version available On Demand, not exactly the best when it comes to 4K. I really wish they had released this on UHD Blu Ray at the same time.

Am I right in thinking this is a 4 hour version of the first film, as I skipped through a cracked version briefly and that is what I sort of saw!

Think it ends up being maybe 20% shared? It's basically the same core film, you'll recognise some scenes, but lots of extra stuff and the bits that are retained have effect & dialogue changes and what's around them is changed.

Villain's role is quite different, some characters much expanded, some added, first half of the film is restructured, end is different.

It's also R rated unlike the original release so gore & language.

Some bits will make a lot more sense if you know what the planned sequels are/were - it would have got very dark and the various 'Knightmare' foreshadowing from BvS and JL would have become relevant & all the bits you see would be explained.

Spare a thought for the keen movie aficianado that owns one of those 21:9 UltraWide TVs.

I'm two hours in. It's got some of the original film in it but a lot more however more doesn't necessarily mean better. It's slow going and as someone said above, it's going to be 3+ hours before Superman shows up.

4:3 ratio is crap.

Finished it. Doesn't add anything to the original story although it does tell the story in a different and MASSIVELY longer way.

Perhaps I might have been more impressed if there was a timely follow up film but DC seem to be lost in regard to the stories they want to tell and have no urgency to push them out.

I will never watch it again. I've watched the Marvel films numerous times.

It should be remembered Marvel have turned out some clunkers. Thor 2 for example. Black Panther seems beyond criticism seemingly as what it meant to so many but the FX work is poor and in culminates is a dizzyingly poor cgi fight at the end between two characters who look the same. I also felt some of the story was patronising and heavy handed- the most advanced nation on earth still fighting in combat for who gets to be king etc.
Still, it earned a lot of money. As did the turgid Captain Marvel. Again, a insipid boring film with a miscast lead actress who turns in a one note performance. Again, wasn’t a lot of money.
For me both versions of Justice League better than those 3.

Managed to finish this now.

First 2 hours were so so, second half was much improved over the original.
There was a balance to each hero and the part they played.
The final epilogue although good just seemed like a bunch of scenes that were filmed and randomly put together.

The original I'd give a 6, this one a high 7.

Reason being is simply the DC universe is such a mess I don't have the connection I have with these characters compared to how Marvel built their universe over the years, culminating in the brilliant Infinity War and Endgame.

Whether the individual marvel films were great or decent they still helped to build the world in more or less a cohesive universe and paid off massively in the final 2 films.

This film there are no F yeah moments or bits where I would be like wow, there isn't any emotion for me to care about any of these guys.
The climax was very good and very much improved over the original, SFX were brilliant and the scenes were great.
However due to the above it's something I'd watch maybe once or twice and won't bother with again.

Maybe if they continue on from how they ended this film then in future I could get more invested in it.
This isn't going to happen though, we've already got a new Batman, WW84 was rubbish and didn't even have a point as it never followed on from this.

DC have shot themselves in the foot and can't see them ever recovering from the mess they've created with these films. They don't have to go the Marvel way and copy everything but at least put a decent cohesive universe together that can be followed.

I agree with Black Panther, seems like a wasted opportunity to make another billion by making a release with all the CG fixed. I really liked the writing, but like all Marvel films the final act is always a CGI snorefest of a battle.

I'm about half way through.. There some improvements over the original so far.. But offset by the poor cgi and length of the movie. I'll reserve my full judgement till the end though..

Black Panther tapped into a tide of all sorts of things, only watched it once, a very average movie I am afraid and we all know why it is popular, nothing wrong with that but it does NOT make it a good film it was more of an advertisement for me

Pretty good re-do of the movie. Not thrilled with the 4:3 ratio ... it's not like any appreciable number of people are going to see this in IMAX - but I got used to it.

Even though it was much longer than Josstice League, it actually held my attention through the entire length ... unlike the original version where I was nodding off by the end due to the fact that it was so incomprehsible and rushed that I couldn't engage.

Some interesting stuff set up for the sequels... which apparently aren't (and were never) going to happen so I have to wonder why they went to the effort to shoot new scenes for the epilogue.

All in all it was definitely a 'success' in my book. Not a mega-epic but a very decent superhero movie.
