"Krivas moves fast!"

"It's MISTER Cowley to you!"

Perhaps the best episode.

Half page write up in yesterday's Telegraph, read at dad's.

Doyle was supposed to get a Princess to drive ,that would have been all wrong.

The Triumphs then Fords him and Bodie got were much more in keeping with the series.

Cowley also supposed to have a Daimler Double six, then Ford arrived.

Yea, that was it, the Consul on the TV Lounge forum.

I got mixed up between The Professionals and The Sweeney. Both great shows.

That's unlikely UK wasn't terribly PC friendly when this was first aired.

Collins hated to make Bodie behave the way he did in it. It's interesting to see the actor playing the real nasty piece of work in it is none other than Tony Booth, father of Cherie Blair.

It's all on youtube.

part 4 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twLd-pHuVEQ

Just watched the first few minutes and another reused actor, actor playing Helen also played Susan Grant in Cry Wolf.

Yes
Its a rather awkward episode with a neat twist. If memory serves Tony Booth is in it

Which episode was that then ?
The Rolls Royce was used in the original credits. These were replaced with the car through glass ones shot for series 2 and retro fitted onto nearly all series 1 episodes. I cant remember any episode where the Rolls was actually used.
Bodys first Ford Vehicle was a mk 2 Capri

Seeing NHK mentioned ,my mate owns or owned the plate NHK298M ,the plate from the blue Cortina from The Sweeney.

no idea if he's still got it but he probably would want a ludicrous price for it.

ETA...DVLA...."vehicle details not found" .....so presumably plate on retention ,or my mate lied to me about it.
The blue Mark 3 cortina was NHK 296M, sometimes it was carters car, sometimes it was a squad car with a blue light and spotlights on the roof!

Funny enough have watched a few episodes recently including Klansman - 'edgy' it'd be described as today I think!

Also - remember Ray's E-Type racing a Porsche while Bodie's sitting on the back as there's a 'bird' in the passenger seat? Hilarious!

Every Professionals enthusiast should try and seek out a copy of this book although its not easy to find.

There's one on Amazon at present for £318!
Can you tell us a bit more- I am interested but there is no way I would pay £50 let alone £318
The book is a very comprehensive guide to the series and runs to 630 odd pages. Every episode is covered in minute detail with a full run down of the story line, list of actors, production unit , shooting schedule and locations. Far more info than is strictly necessary but interesting all the same. For sure it's not worth £318 but you get people that come up with these crazy prices on Amazon when a book is out of print. Can't remember how much mine was about 4-5 years ago as it was a Christmas present but certainly not in £10-20 bracket.

Unfortunately, the uploads appear to be missing a section from 10m-20m (goes from "split 0" to "split 2" without a "split 1", but the whole episode has been put up by someone else, albeit with subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86lqJVHmoQE

Bodie and Doyle, the action heroes of my childhood. The Dolomite and RS2000 were my favourite cars in the show, though I've always been a fan the Rover SD1 as well. If they had stuck with Rover, I could see Cowley in 620 turbo, Bodie in a MG Maestro. Not sure BL had anything that for Doyle at that time the MG F didn't come until much later

I thought of early Spooks as its spiritual successor.

Lets try a fantasy roboot, who plays the key roles and what cars do our heroes drive now?

  • Boodie would drive a tricked up fast road Defender and be played by Liam Neeson for moody, or Simon Pegg for humour.
  • Doyle drives a Subaru BRZ coupe, played by Ewan McGregor but the character could easily be female, for a modern twist.
  • Cowley only one actor for this role, Ian McKellen, Black Ranger Rover Sport
What would be your choices for Cars and Actors?
