Wheeler dealers gone down hill

Out there is a video with Edd explaining why he left the show. Basically he didn't like where the new production company were taking the show. This seems to have been bourne out by your experiences.

I quite liked the old show but got a bit frustrated with how everything was shown to come apart relatively easily. No sheared off bolts in inaccessible places that take half a day to sort.Still, that's not exciting telly is it.
Remember the Messermit one he cracked the roof panel .... He also sometimes showed bolts that had to be cut off or heated up to get off. Here is the link

I think the new show is too American and that Escort one was ridiculous the ruined a great looking car in my view.
Ed should do a proper restoration show rather than WD rubbish.

Instead the staged "buy"/"sell" takes the time
The buy/sell bit at the end must take less than 2 minutes. On an hours show like that they'll have around 39ish minutes of actual "show". Take away the continual recaps and the "on this weeks show" and its probably 30 mins of actual material. 2 mins isn't a lot, besides it is essentially the (literally) money shot - the whole premise of the show is for them to turn a profit isn't it?I have to say I really thought the show would die from what Ed was saying - they want to get less technical - it seems the same to me - maybe slightly more oily stuff. They seem to have given up the "Mike can do this job on the car" and left him to bumble about and irritate everyone.
I think Ant's done really well. Replacing a unique presenter like Ed was always going to be hard and upset the hardcore fans. The major change has been the orientation towards the US market. Before it was Mike buying old capri's on South London estates, now he's tooling about in various Yank megawagons and trying to play up the faux bonhomie with bemused American tradesmen.
I'm really enjoying the new series and I never thought I'd be saying that.
The King is dead. Long live the King.

Yes - I noticed the gaps too, and they were doing their best to keep the connecting areas (where the gaps were) well out of shot in the 'finished article' film clips.
I did sigh when the previous owner turned up to buy it again... 'Come on Mike.. I thought your part of the job was proper selling! not just buying'
Not complaining too much though, after all - its a Cossy on TV.. I learned a bit and it entertained me - job done.
...Was veeeeeeery dubious of the decision to add the 3rd wing though.
If twitter’s anything to go by, previous owner may have changed his mind as it seems to be still at the WD compound.I did sigh when the previous owner turned up to buy it again... 'Come on Mike.. I thought your part of the job was proper selling! not just buying'

OK episode, but I thought the car looked a lot better in matt black and a bit beaten up... the finished article was a bit 'Brokeback Mountain' IMO.
Just an observation: I've noticed throughout this series that Ant appears to use chrome vandium sockets on an impact wrench - I was under the impression that this was a big no-no as they can shatter with a fair bit of force if a really stubborn bolt/nut is encountered.

I thought that Ranchero episode was the poorest one yet. Basically just took a car to pieces, out-sourced absolutely every single part and then bolted it back together again once it was all new and shiny. Yeah, so what? Pretty much anyone above the age of three could put together a Lego set if that's all there was to restoring a car
Lots of inexplicable weirdness... such as Anstead whaling away with a lump hammer to split the balljoints, observing "it's fighting me". That's cos you're hitting it in completely the wrong place... Did he really just overlay the truck bed with that wood and leave all the channels in between the planks wide open to water and scunge getting in and rotting out the whole lot?...Did we really need another "Brewer's idiot guide to polishing stuff" segment...
Bit anoraky I know, but I can't understand why when he turned up to view the car it had the correct petrol filler cap with the Falcon arrow motif cast into it. In matte black, of course. Next shot he's test driving it and it has what appears to be a chrome locking petrol filler cap. How hard can it be to get the continuity right? Surely that's what the production company get paid to do? Why even change something like that?

Tried my hardest to try and adapt to Ant
Ditto, perhaps he's right for an American audience, but for me he's too 'excitable' and dumbs things down far too much. It all comes across as very Cbeebies and false. Last night when he was talking about the drum>disc benefits was a prime example. It was excruciatingly bad.I've given him the benefit of the doubt so far because I certainly don't remember him being like it in "For the love of cars"?!?

He's exactly the same presenting that Worlds Most expensive cars rubbish programme that seems to be a rolling advert for Christies/Coys or whoever they are.
Was that the one with the Lamborghini "Corn-torch"? AMG Merc said:

Mind you, very few people pronounce it correctly anyway, however, not usually THAT incorrectly.....muppet.
Latest episode about the Ford falcon was poor, just not enough detail, show has really gone down hill. I recorded it, I fast forwarded through all the ads and the guff, I was done in 25mins. Used to be about fixing up and old banger on a budget, it's now turned into a car restoration show, done badly.
What the hell was that all about with a couple of bottles and a tube full of coolant? Thought I was watching Blue Peter.
I suppose they know what audience they want to appeal to.
